One of the most sophisticated bands, one of the greatest albums. I love steely Dan and I was born after Gaucho. One could study only them and become a great musician.

Man, a CD player in '86! I didn't know anyone in real life with a CD player until like '91 at the earliest 😂 Didn't get mine until '94

Exactly! Donald Fagen has such a great, dry sense of humor and observations. What a genius.

Every song on this album was a gem. The peak of SD's creativity in writing and performances. Have used it a thousand times to help perfect my drumming, especially improving feel and subtle phrasing. Thanks guys.

One of the best groups of all time... I say that reserved because tastes vary but musical talent and writing is extraordinary, nearly any real artist would agree

Whenever I have some kind of new way of listening to music, the test for me is listening the Aja album. It’s like a benchmark. It’s the richest most nuanced thing I can play.

Is the young guitarist seen in many of these Steely Dan studio videos the same guy who now plays with The Eagles and does a lot of the guitar solos from their old work? Looks like the same guy. A really phenomenal player. Anyone know?

1:26 - Steely Dan: the only band who can start recording an album in 1977, take a little over a year to finish it AND still release it IN 1977 LOL Think his timeline was a wee bit off :P
