I love Ajahn Amaro. Not to boast, but I live only an hour and a half away from him so I go and see him often 🙏. Whenever I tell him my problems, he just kind of says, “Yep, that’s the way it is,” and what could be a truer statement than that? I always ask him how he is too and he sort of just nods and smiles as if to say, “I’m like this.” Calm, content, in control, probably enlightened.

I personally think he's a bit of a prat. However, you're lucky if you can go to Amaravati often: they have wonderful food, a real banquet every day. So much choice and such great food!! I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I thought monks were supposed to be mendicants, and here they were enjoying a banquet every day that most lay people can only dream of...

Like the song goes: there's always someone, somewhere. With a big nose, who knows · And who trips you up and laughs. When you fall. ;-)
