I lived in Japan for 3 years from 2008 to 2011 during my Phd at KEK, Tsukuba, Ibaraki. You have explained all details correctly. However, in my case i was so excited when came to Japan as it was my first foriegn trip and that too was Japan which is the most advanced country in the world i have ever visited. Toilets are cleaned, roads are cleand, safe etc as you explained. But as time passed, i felt so depressed after 2 years and wanted to get out of the Japan as soon as i finish my Phd becuse it was so lonely and i missed the friendly cultur of India and also variety of food. Further, i didnt learn Japanes that was also a big issue and i am a vegetarian. Well, i moved to Germany for a year then to US for 4 years then UK for 2 years and finally back to India in 2018. I found US is the best place for Indians as everything is in english, no food issue, many indians celebrating all the festivals and Indians having very high reputations.
