Thanks for the video dude! For years I wondered why i couldn't get the speed to slingshot myself out of rutted corners and berms. I have body positioning down but i would always use my back brake going into the turn, open throttle the rest of the way, then cussing myself out for not getting the result i wanted. I came to my senses that the back brake basically cuts half of the power going into it because of weight shift and getting rpms back up. It's probably just the forever fear of falling by locking up the front wheel too..no excuses😂🤷‍♂️

if you get your butt forward on the seat over front end and utilize one legged squat.. that puts weight on front end to keep it in rut and give better traction and no need for front brake through turn because it limits momentum, front brake only entering when shut off throttle entering turn....keep at this teaching thing..been at it since 2001,....awesome see riders helping riders.

Thanks!! But every top guy in world is using front brake in rutted turns. Inside foot off the peg is becoming less necessary with new school riding techniques. Ken Roczen, Herlings, Tomac, chase sexton, just a few that come to mind who are mastering feet on the pegs technique.
@RichLaffertyRacing
@RichLaffertyRacing 4 жыл бұрын
@@AjCatanzaro cool...yes I'm aware of feet on pegs technique..Roczen kills with it...and takes less effort....but in corners so rutted, you run chance getting foot ripped off peg...but front brake drag in apex is new to me...thanks

How can i donate or support you.... as someone whos comming back to riding after 10 years (30 now, stopped riding around 20), and honestly never had proper technique back then anyways, i cant put in to words how much your videos have helped me get comfortable again and gain confidence. Within just a few riding days i feel more "one with my bike" then i ever did when i was younger. You have opened my eyes (and im sure MANNYYYY others aswell) to the importance of rider position. Im so happy to spend the first hour looking like an idiot going half speed/throttle, while in this funny looking position as if i think im hauling ass, knowing that it really is helping me embed that position in to my brain. My buddies goofed on me my first day back for it. On the 4th riding day back, my buddies are then following me around practicing their positing for the better part of the first hour that day. All these thing you explain do wonders for some of us viewers. You know that "feeling" you get when u do something proper, a berm shot, a jump, a rut line with good body position, what ever it may be, u can "feel" sometime if u did it right or now. When i get that feeling i can then confirm in my head with the things ive learn from your videos. i can also build upon that feeling and start fine tunning those techniques to then further improve that good "feeling". sorry for the ramble, but im really struggling to put it in to words how much your videos really help people such as myself. I would REALLY love to show some support through donations or fund-me things. please let me know.

So, coming from road racing, learning using the rear brake is different for me. Question I have is while using rear brake and front brake for entry in the corner - are you saying get off rear brake before entry then just trail brake front for control of lean angle? Any clutch feathering during any of this?
@AjCatanzaro
@AjCatanzaro 4 жыл бұрын
The trailing of the front depends on how much stable of a rut you’re in. Obviously don’t want to be trailing it if you’re not in any type of rut yet. I “feather” my clutch on exit of turn only to ensure that I don’t accidentally whiskey throttle. But my idea of feathering the clutch is more so just having a finger over it just in case. If all goes well in the turn I won’t use it
