Singapore is a far bigger dictatorship than India can ever be. It has a single party in power since independence (no opposition is effective or has ever won). There is no independent media, no reports or articles can be published that are not directly approved by the government. The current PM is older PM's own son. If you wish to protest the government, you need to obtain a license from the government for doing so. And yet, I bet Dhruv feels no issues with Singapore's place in the world. Try publishing a youtube video "Is Singapore's PM a dictator" and it will be taken down by youtube in Singapore immediately in the name of "social and racial harmony". Imprisonment for sedition (waging war against the country) are used flimsily for as simple as facebook posts. The "mamata baneerjee dance" on any of the leaders would definitely get you arrested so will criticizing religion especially Islam. The education system and media people read is tightly controlled so anyone who graduates becomes very pro-government. They also have a strange and strong obsession with China throughout their education system, and people also become quite China-leaning. Schools frequently have exchange programs with China, case studies in humanities and economics and other subjects largely revolve around China with an anti-west chinese worldview, with chinese foreign ministry's stand on taiwan or disputed islands taught as de facto, even as far as presenting communism as a viable option just like democracy.
