Looks like an awesome place for Aji! For some reason I never even thought to just drop and jig off wharf/jetty - gonna have to give that a go at my local!
@FishoDavo2 жыл бұрын
Yeah mate, seems to work fine for Aji who are quite happy to take a small lure that's either sitting still or moving up and down once in a while

Using tongs especially for makeral to keep as live bait is a must as they seem to die quicker after being handled with hands.

Hey mate, great vid! Your tips were very useful and I’m sure they’ll help many people get fish! But I do just want to point out that usually for ajing, we’d usually use ultralight rods (1lbs-6lbs rating), and polyester line instead of braid because polyester helps these light lures sink faster than braid (example of polyester line would be 34 pinky ester line or aji no ito nightblue). Only exception I see the locals in my country use braid when ajing is when targeting bigger fish like 1lbs rake finned trevallies (6lbs or 8lbs braid). Overall though, great video!
@FishoDavo2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your tips and kind comments, this was more my travel fishing set while on family holiday, so the rod is a bit heavier, I do have a much lighter set at home. I have seen some friends use the pinky line, I haven't done much research on it myself, I've just changed my setup to 6lb line, so look forward to having a bit of fun on this lighter setup

i use 16lb 0.6pe main line with 6lb fluorocarbon leader works great for me. interesting to know that traditionally it’s polyester line

hey just wanna join in on this, depending on the size of the fish at your local you may want to get a lighter rod (UL instead of L at the back of the rod name) as it will be more sensitive and delicate in a way
@FishoDavo2 жыл бұрын
@@zelenang3537 so true, UL is a lot of fun
@zelenang35372 жыл бұрын
also wanna add on, if you wanna have the most authentic ajing set up, you should get an ultralight rod with a solid tip as it will be very sensitive and fits the ajis, essentially scaling down a set up for trevallys. You’d also want a spinning reel size 500-2000 for the same reason as the rod, and polyester line (34 pinky 2.3lbs or aji no ito 3lbs) as it is the densest line you can get and it will help with sinking the lure since aji lures are really light and it gives the best action for your aji lure. but if your local has really big fish that you might accidentally hook up to as well, consider braid anywhere from 4lbs-8lbs as it will have stronger tension resistance and will help bring the fish in faster.

Can I use baitcaster for ajing?
@FishoDavo2 жыл бұрын
Ajing is light line and casting, so if you can do that with your baitcaster setup then it'll be fine
