Some great tips! It would be cool to see how you bled it, removed the guts and iced it down while you were on the water, will need to try that method of gutting kingfish.

What was your favourite tip from this video? Is there filleting tip you'd like to share?
@fisheatrepeat14 күн бұрын
Definitely the cutting of the fillet to make a grip hold
@fisheatrepeat14 күн бұрын
Outstanding filleting video not just for yellow tail kingfish but any large fish!! Joel really knows how to fillet a fish and under stands how to cut the fish to meet future meals rather than just cutting them all up the same. For me best tips were making that grip hole cut and starting the next side fillet while the kingi is still facing down that was onto it
@FishoDavo14 күн бұрын
Yup even from the first cut you can see Joel is having the wings at the right size for the grill
@fisheatrepeat15 күн бұрын
20:15 Joel is so right eh kingfish is the best eating fish Imo since it's so diverse and has so many different parts of the filleting 21:04 keeping the kingi facing down before flipping is really onto it!

Sir, did you just let the lure touch to bottom and then playing slowly, or after cast then pull that lure? May i know how deep this spot? Thanks before, great Video
@FishoDavo18 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! Not very deep here I think around 10 meters, we target Snapper that feed on the bottom, and the Kahawai are all through the water column, so bottom is the preference for me

@montyspearo20 күн бұрын
Rule for fuel is carry at least 50% more than expected. That is 1/3 to get out there which should be in good conditions, leaving 2/3 for return which allows for double fuel consumption if weather forecast is wrong. NB that 50% reserve isn't for going further a field than planned.
@FishoDavo19 күн бұрын
That's great advice thanks, going to pin your comment as it is useful to all those that use their boat/jetski

Can you fit/is there room for a bilge pump? Was thinking you could have jumped in amd shut it, but there would be no way to avoid capsizing until the water was pumped out...
@FishoDavo24 күн бұрын
Yeah I had same thoughts at the time, jump on close the hatch but thought it was risky as the ski might capsize or back sinks down when trying to get back on. Decided keeping it in motion was the best bet so I wanted to drive to the nearest beach. These ski's can fit a bilge pump, wish I had one and would definitely put one into future ski

Hi Dave, just wondering is the 70cm retrieve on IC100 enoguh for spj?
@FishoDavo19 күн бұрын
Yeah it feels all good to be honest, I know we generally want high retrieve to give the jig as much lift as possible, it can be compensated by using a longer rod like the Long Fall. I've use baitcaster for SPJ and still caught lots of fish so I don't think its a firm rule that high retrieve is necessary for SPJ

When is the right time to engage the bail arm? 😊
@TDynasty001Ай бұрын
Hi I am new to conventional reels, were you guiding the line when retrieving the line? Assuming it is a non level wind reel.
@FishoDavoАй бұрын
I find most of the time don't need to guide the line onto the spool and it mostly falls into place by itself, if it looks to be uneven then yes will need to guide the line to balance it

I hope this message finds you well and in the best of health. I am writing to you as one of your followers on your remarkable KZbin channel, which I have greatly benefited from due to the valuable and engaging content you provide, especially regarding fishing and related equipment. I am an avid fishing enthusiast; however, my current circumstances prevent me from acquiring the appropriate tools, particularly a fishing rod with a reel. Therefore, I am reaching out to you with this request, hoping to receive your kind support in providing me with these tools, which would greatly help me pursue the hobby I deeply love. I know that you are always keen to support your audience, and I hope to be one of those who benefit from your generous assistance. I would be extremely grateful for any help or guidance you can provide.

is there an optimal depth where this method works best? i typically fish a reef with 80 to 100 ft depths and occasionally 200 to 300 ft...would this process be beneficial?
@FishoDavoАй бұрын
That's very similar to thr depths I fish. In this video it would be 100ft, and some other videos I've done it's at 300ft 180ft is where I most commonly use this technique

Great video! Do you use a drogue to slow the drift?
@FishoDavoАй бұрын
Thank you! Yes sometimes we do, it's best if the line is vertical, so we really don't want to be drifting more than 1.5knots
