Rhe reason buddhism flourished is because jainism and ajeevikism has extremities and a person cannot do or be in such religion. Buddha went through all these extremities and concluded based in his experiences that one doesn't have to go through these extremities and can attain enlightenment even without these and follow eight fold path and become the enlightened one like ananda and the rest. Four of them disciplines. Thats is the reason Buddhism was the sanest and most beautiful religion of them all around the world. Slowly it was disturbed by adding other sects into it after buddha died made it unpopular and led to the decline.

If ajivika sect was born in South India then some of its philosophy must be in saivism and Vaishnavism. What part of ajivika philosophy is there in saivism and Vaishnavism ?? Lastly mahavir jain did have a disciple names goshala but do you think at that time in the whole world, makhali is the only goshal and there was no other with that name ?? If yes how you are so sure ?? And ajivika philosophy was the only philosophy of pre Buddhist time. All the other 62 philosophy are actually variant of this one philosophy ajivika. They are same thing under different names and so those 6 preachers weren't heretics. Buddha and Mahavira were actually heretics.

Magadh ke King Bindusar ne sampraday ko join Kiya. Jo cave milta hai wo Bihar me hai. Other inscriptions Mauryan Empire time ke hain Magar aapne Religion ka origin Tamilnadu kah diya.
