Never undermine your struggles. Struggles are called struggles for a reason. Just because others have done more or have had more done to them doesn't make yours hurt any less. It's good to acknowledge your pain and don't brush it off because it doesn't feel "like a big enough deal". If you're in the ER with a broken arm, it hurts right? What if someone next to you has both their arms broken, does that make your arm hurt any less? Acknowledge that you both are in pain, sympathize, and heal. Pain is pain. Edit: Thanks for all the likes and comments!! I've never received this much interaction on something before, but I'm glad it's on something that I feel is important Edit#2: 1. Idk why yall fighting I'm sick of my notifications blowing up on this thing over yall instead of people who genuinely got the message 2. MOVE ONNN read the comment and move on. All the lil kids stopping by and hating when they stop, yeah it'll catch up with you in a couple years. You'll think about it again. It'll itch the back of your mind when you're alone and sad and have no one to talk to. It'll come back

I think there is a degree in which people are so focused on their small, insignificant problems that they hurt themselves more. The answer to depression and anxiety is not to let it consume your life but that's what all this mental health talk leads to, a lightening of responsibility to pull yourself together.
@unknowns783 жыл бұрын
@@aaronbrown8377 I think that isn't the point of the song or the comment. Obviously don't let your emotions consume you. But the point of the song in my opinion was about the insecurity that because your problems aren't as big as other you shouldn't feel bad or you're just too sensitive or talk about it.

What I've gathered is that this song is about how you shouldn't compare your sorrows to others. The violin is his sorrow, bc he talks of playing it for his therapist. He calls it the smallest because he downplays his struggles, so to him they seem small next to others'. If you're struggling, your struggles are valid. Even if someone has it worse, your struggles are still valid.
@lexigavin37453 жыл бұрын
ooo i love that way of looking at it :) i thought the violin was jack referring to himself, and he calls it the smallest because he feels so small in such a big world. he just wants someone to notice him and his accomplishments. that seems to be a running theme throughout the album, i’ve noticed him looking for that validation in “joe” and a bit of the same in “my play”
@bruh-xb5hm3 жыл бұрын
wow u made the song sad
@goodmcmorning51693 жыл бұрын
You should compare your sorrow to others, makes you grateful to have a better life than theirs and not take for granted what you do have. Just don't complain about it like a baby dropping his lollipop on the sidewalk... talk about it with others and work through it in a mature way.
@dexterletterman38003 жыл бұрын
@@goodmcmorning5169 except that doing that has been proven to be terrible for your mental health
@koutsioj47623 жыл бұрын
@@goodmcmorning5169 It doesn't work like that for most people. Comparing your problems with other people's doesn't help if the others have less or less serious problems and if they have more serious problems it can make many people feel worse for themselves because now they feel they don't deserve to feel bad or complain about their own problems. Truth is, everyone has problems, everyone's problems are valid and everyone should be able to express their problems to someone and receive support, instead of judgement like "People in Africa are starving to death and you complain about having homework to do?" for example. If people want to become more grateful they can practice that because gratitude can be learned. They can keep a gratitude journal or something like that. Comparing yourself to others sounds like a way to develop anxiety or depression, not gratitude...

I love the way the instruments blend into one another. In addition to soundng cool, it drives home the point that it doesn't matter what the instrument in the analogy is; it's not about the violin, or the trumpet, or whateer. If someone has something to say, it's worth listening to. I just love how the musicality matches the message of the song.

@KingPotatoesYT in the song, he is listing how the people before him did great things under harsh circumstances, so he feels like his problems aren't that big compared to the great things they did... but even so, he still needs help. "2 things can be sad," meaning one thing isn't necessarily greater than the other. Even though they had it bad, he still feels like what he is dealing with is valid. And he just needs someone to listen to him or one day he will explode. Ultimately everyone's journey is important, even though his violin is small in comparison... it doesn't mean he shouldn't have an audience.
