This was SO helpful! Thank you. I've been charged with this task for a team retreat, and was quite unsure of what to suggest. These options were great.

I tested today the Your first job and learning , then we asked the senior leader in the Groupe to guess who had written , that was a big success and everyone loved it ( as we got to nice discoveries , also unexpected )

Just found out about this video in time for my own workshop I'm gonna facilitate. Thanks for the fun ice breaker ideas! I'm wondering how many icebreakers should you do in one workhop? And how long should you take for it? And should I think about an icebreaker that fits the subject of the workshop or can I choose every option?

Thanks for your questions! We normally run one icebreaker at the beginning of the workshop. However, you could also use an icebreaker or energizer after a long break to bring the mood and energy levels back up. The length depends on the time you have for the entire workshop. But we usually plan for around 5-10 minutes to facilitate the icebreaker. The icebreaker doesn't necessarily have to be related to the topic of the workshop, but it should match the type of group you're working with and the level of energy you want to achieve. However, we sometimes do use icebreakers to help explain some basic workshopping principles or how to use the tools (when it's an online workshop). Hope this is helpful. Cheers.

in addition to your sharing, i think top 1 rule of doing an icebreaker, never mention "we are going to do an ice breaker". this creates anxiety

Im not sure about this. There is always a dumb team which will ask „why are we doing this“. „Is this relevant for …“ etc. Before I have to answer all this I am just telling „guys. Icebreaker time“

I refuse to engage in any ice breaker exercises. If I am forced to engage I just lie about the answer. Funnily I did the first job ice breaker recently I just said I couldn't remember as it was so long ago. What I did for my first job is no business of my colleagues. I can always find a way not to answer e.g. I'd say I don't have a prized possession or there's no one other than family I'd want to invite to dinner.
