Excellent video! I had just gotten mine and roasted 450 g of Mexican beans. It, likewise, took 45 minutes (at max temperature) to get an even medium-dark roast. I like your “tip,” using a colander and pan to cool and release a lot of the chaff. Thanks for producing this video.

Fair video, I think. I built an air roaster about 5 years ago and have roasted hundreds of lbs on it, and with that background, I have to say this roaster pretty terrible in terms of just about every aspect; especially uniformity (very poor mixing), but also the time/temperature profile (too long), "Teflon" coating? Yikes. I must say, I'd steer very clear of this. But that said, thanks for another informative and entertaining video!

Good point. I wish they make stainless steel roaster. But again the temperature is weak. Some people got uniform results with smaller quantities.

I bet the defects on this roast was alot...the uneven roast is bad especially after nearly an hour. I bought a good drum style roaster for home use...it's similar to the small one you used with the glass drum and butane cook top, except mine is all electric...still learning to roast but this roaster in this video is absolutely awful in my opinion. I like your content...keep up the good work!

Hi Aju, l found with mine, wich is exactly the same as yours,that 250g was the amount to put in, it was more manageable.

I'm going to do small quantity and see. Thanks. Is your control arm wobbly like i showed in the video and the arms scrapes the base? What is the Max temperature you got?
@shanewilson2152

@@AjusCafe hey mate, the quality of mine was good, the control arm was firm and it was off the base. The max temp l managed to get from memory was around 180 to 190c. Roasting 250g made it roast a lot quicker, the only problem l had was hearing first and second crack.

Like Shane stated maybe roasting a smaller quantity of beans would be easier to manage my question did you get a better roast using hot air popper and if so maybe roasting many small batches is a better way to go? I know it all comes down to how much money you want to spend on a roasting machine versus buying already roasted beans. I do like the idea of making the espresso from “Scratch” Very informative videos on the different roasting machines. If you could do a smaller roast with the same unit to see how that batch would turn out.
@AjusCafe

Hot air popper had slightly better results. Some roasters don't prefer hot air roasting method. But i find the taste to be good too. I'm going to try small quantity on it as well.
@AjusCafe
@AjusCafe 2 жыл бұрын
Roasting time vs quantity is same for both. 600g in 45mts =13g/m in this. 113g in 10mts =11g/m in popper. Ratio is more or less same.

I did several tests. Between 400-300 gr of grains. Without success. I always got beans without proper roasting. They were raw!!!
