Great report! I was there at the same time as you! Our caches were actually together at Whale Mountain! We stared at your barrels dreaming of possible treasures, Good thing we didn't know about the whiskey! We began at the Upper Sheenjek then the Kong- our trip was identical after Whale Mt. The Jago was ripping!- (we had 2 swimmers) An amazing experience!! Dave Plante

Hey David, thanks for commenting, I'm glad you found the video! We saw your barrel, too and were wondering about your route and group. We also saw your footprints in several places along the route. How many of you were there? You must have been on the Jago tight before us, shortly after the rain, right? What day did you arrive in Kaktovik? It was July 3rd for us. Thanks for leaving us the whisky, although... ;)
@davidplante58295 жыл бұрын
@@GabrielGersch We were in Kaktovik June 27/28, We were a group of 5. When we hit the Jago it was snowing and the river was in flood, presumably from the melting glaciers from a couple of sunny days. The snow turned the temperature down and the water dropped well over a foot overnight. It was still very high and very challenging fun. 3 of us continued to Yellowknife then a bush plane to the Mara River-Burnside to the Nunavut coast for a 3 week canoe trip immediately after! We are planning a pack raft trip to Gates of the Arctic for next June (tentative) at this time. I've been on the Firth as well- awesome river! Keep in touch! Next adventure is a cycling trip in Myanmar in January with a dutch friend! One of my paddling partners is Swiss as well. midnightcanoe@gmail.com

We are doing this trip backwards this year. Wondering what the crossing on the Malcolm River was like? Deep water or no problem?

What an awesome trip. How bad were the biting insects that time of year?
@GabrielGersch4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It was June, so the mosquitos weren't too bad yet. July is usually worse.

Klasse. Vielen Dank. Dumme Noob Frage. Wie pumpt man die Boote unterwegs auf?? Habt Ihr da so eine Handpumpe bei? LG Rainer
@GabrielGersch5 жыл бұрын
