My Sally's was out of the aphogee so I bought the ion and it was def not the same or even comparable. The ion did absolutely NOTHING. I was so mad. I hope I can get my hands on aphogee soon! My hair is in despair!

I worked at Sally's beauty supply for 3 years, and I absolutely hated ion. I never recommended it or used it because I felt it sucked and did nothing. All of my coworkers loved it and would upset it to everyone and I didn't get it. I used it before I even worked there and felt like it did nothing. Ion is absolute trash. Only thing I really like is some of their hair dye and their silk drops. That's about it. And trust me. I've tried almost everything there.

When I was bleaching my hair to platinum I swore by the apogee two step process. It made it so much more manageable! It’s messy, a bit of a pain to apply, and yes smells... BUT the results speak for themselves. It will save your hair.

Im due for my aphogee treatment. You just reminded me to do mine tomorrow. It’s my holy grail for my bleached curls. Smells horrible but the results are unmatched. Healthy hair staples: *intense protein treatment every couple weeks followed by a deep conditioning masque *alternate between protein and moisturizing hair masque weekly. *olaplex #3 added to my weekly deep conditioning masques. I also tried both after a year of bleaching my hair and I also noticed a huge advantage to the Aphogee treatment. I actually bought the larger bottles (4oz) so I could do a protein treatment every 8 weeks or so. It DEFINITELY saved my hair, more than Olaplex, miracle masks, or deep conditioners.

I bleached my long black dyed hair that was down to my bum 5 times!.... it damadged it alot! But apohgee saved my hair... its been a year now I've had a few trims and my hair is still really long past my bra strap.... apohgee really is great stuff I couldn't get a comb through my wet hair now I can and its getting there!🥰

You should try cutting it shorter first and then doing the treatment and then last resort just cut it all off if you really want to. My hair is super damaged right now from bleaching it alot but its still strong and I know once I get my hair cut itll feel way better.

I’ve used the aphoogee one many times, and I have dark brown naturally, I’ve never tried the ion one before. I use the aphoogee one in a spray bottle mixed with water on my dry hair, I’ve found it’s the easiest way to apply it. Then I’ll go sit in the sun, or I’ve worn it as a style and washed it out before. Currently my hair is pink and orange, it’s been red, blue and purple. Definitely one of my favorite products I’ve found.

The aphogee treatment literally is the only thing that makes my hair manageable. I have had green hair for about four years straight now which means lots of bleach! I prefer the aphogee karatin spray treatment that seals in with heat. But I love all their products! I agree that they could use a fragrance revamp though

The Aphogee is an absolute mess! It is sticky AF and will stay stuck to whatever it touches... However, it has helped my hair over the last few years. It is very intense, but that's what most people that are using it need. People with thick hair will have a harder time using this. I'm glad you reviewed these!! Helpful hint: pour it into a spray bottle to apply!

As a professional, Aphgogee is still my favorite protein repair treatment. Especially for extremely porus hair, not only for clients coming in with bleach breakage but also to use before an intense color (reds, copper, brights). It is also excellent to cut frizz and encourage uniform curls on curly hair. Warning! ONLY USE it 1x every 6 weeks max or your hair can become over protentized and break. The next best in my opinion is Paul Mithcell Awapui Keratriplex 2 step treatment.

I've used the apogee and its extremely sticky. I flip my damp hair over and make sure my hair is hanging over into the tub. Apply the product and blow dry. The smell is strong but it makes my curls come back to life. I typically use Shea moisture black castor deep conditioner and steam my hair for 30 minutes🧖

Hey Aislin! I'm obsessed with bleaching my hair too and when I over process or it becomes dry and breaking off my go to's are Redken Extreme Anti-Snap Anti-Breakage Leave-In Treatment after every shower and I use Extreme CAT Anti-Damage Protein Reconstructing Rinse-Off Treatment like once every week or 2 weeks depending on the damage. I use the Redken All Soft Mega Hydramelt Leave-In Treatment after I apply the anti snap and my hair comes out feeling super soft after styling. I'm not sponsored by Redken or a hairdresser or anything lol, I just know it works for me! I feel like the aphogee ended up drying my hair and even tinted it yellow, I didn't like it at all. CAT is a much better easier protein treatment.

Aphogee forever! That stuff rocks! I use once a month. I tried Ion once. It did something, but not as much as the Aphogee. I also do treatment when I want to make a color change. It will seriously fade fashion colors. I would say it pulls out more color than a baking soda treatment but actually improves my hair instead of drying it more.

Using a spray bottle for the aphogee is definitely the way to go! I did it that way when I used it last time, after years of using just my hands or a brush and bowl and WOW it's so much easier with a spray bottle 😂 I felt so stupid for not trying it sooner lol

Ion has a protine filler product that's meant to be used before applying color, to make it more even. That product gets really hard and crunchy like the aphrogee two step. I've always used it between bleaching and coloring, so I'm not sure how it works with no dye, but I'd imagine they dye doesn't effect the treatment. It's always made my hair feel way stronger and it has no scent at all! It's amazing.

If you use any protein treatment from ion, use the one in the color section! It's not labeled repair and is legitimately a liquid protein formula to use on the hair. Only ion protein formula I like, not a fan of the repair more gelee treatment

I’ve only used the Aphogee 2 step treatment, and I thought it did a good job. I agree step 1 smells terrible, but I love the smell of step 2! Only thing I’ve tried from Ion is their Wellness Solution Nourishing Mask, and it’s soooo nourishing.

I have textured 2b hair, which it’s wavy. I use the aphogee because it targets my textured hair way more so it’s a stronger treatment especially to help anyone with course, thick, thin, textured hair... The ion still works but I noticed it works best on anyone with straight hair, since it’s not as thick. The treatment isn’t as aggressive since straight hair doesn’t need many oils/proteins because straight hair isn’t as dry or frizzy like textured hair, textured hair is wavy hair to 4c coily/kinky curls

The aphogee does smell bad. But WOW is it worth it!! I have never found anything that comes close to the results I get when using it. I turned my hair into goo once, by over-processing it ,and this was the only stuff that actually gave strengthen my hair and return the structure to it . I have used the ion before but didn't think it came close

Thank you for this. I am in the UK and I had fried my hair with triple bleaching. I tried Olaplex and just about everything else on the market. Then I was recommended Aphogee, WOW! Yes, it has a strange smell but the results are great. From fried to silky in 1hr. I highly recommend this product too. Maybe a drop or two of essential oil would help the aroma?

I’ve used Aphogee, Ion & olaplex. Aphogee worked the best for me. Helped bring back some sort of curl pattern. Also my hair was no longer melting off. Aphogee as a once every 3 months treatment & olaplex as maintenance once a week or every two weeks is my go to.

I once murdered my hair with a home straightening kit, around 15 years ago. The only products that made it vaguely resemble hair again where Philip Kingsley Elasticizer and Kerastase Aqua Oleum. I'm an ex hairdresser I should've known better than to attempt anything like that at home with a shop bought kit. Currently loving Colour Wow Dreamcoat and surprisingly because it's so cheap, Tresemme clarifying shampoo. Those two products together are all I need right now.

I tried the aphogee. I had to put it in a spray bottle to apply it. My hair was super fucked up after a good friend who’s a licensed cosmo put bleach on my hair with a 40v... two times in a row, on top of already bleached hair. I had clumps of hair falling out. I’ve been using Castro oil daily and the aphogee treatment every 3 months. I was amazed at how well this worked to save and restore my hair.

I love the aphogee treatment, not a fan of the smell but I do like the results. For application I like doing it with my head upside down to prevent the driving with a bottle. Always stops the breakage and i do it evey 6 weeks on my bleached hair.

I use the Aphogee products quite often. I love the two step protein treatment but you cannot use it often because it will dry out your hair and break it off. I like to bleach my hair as well and the Aphogee treatment has helped to minimize the damage and to keep it from breaking.

for any curly hair ppl, aphogee is GREAT for keeping the curls alive. if ur gonna bleach ur hair make sure u do a treatment a few days before u bleach it to keep ur curls. i had a side blonde piece on my hair and my hair was white but still had curls. definitely not as my hair naturally is but this fr helps.

The Aphigie treatment worked so well on my hair. I don't use it more than once every 4 months or so, but it is my go-to. I tried the ion recently and agree the smell is a million times better, but doesn't work nearly as well

Yea I wouldn’t want them to change any about the aphogee products you sure try the shampoo it’s lovely! I would still use ion but if u hair is bleached like this the best way to go every 4 to 6 weeks is aphogee!
