Lightsaber Form VII : Vaapad variant

Form VII in Vaapad variant, known mainly from Mace Windu character.
Basic principles inlude constant pressure, aggression, fast and unpredictable attacks. It also utilizes some bare hand techniques.
This material is based on various Japanese and European swordsmanship schools, together with Wookieepedia article about Vaapad.

It’s not that funny it makes a lot of sense to me. It is easier to intimidate ur opponents if u always have an attack ready. If they block ur lightsaber u can use the force and if ur master was too skilled in the force like Obi wan. It helps to have maximized physical power.

Well my form. Form V or 5 is very physical as well. Because as Anikin Obi wan could not teach me the force skill that I had potential for. So I maximized my physical capabilities throwing punches or kicks hear and there while swinging my saber.

Not necessarily, vaapad is about using precision in agresive yet controlled manner to decipher and exploit an opponent's weaknesses, without letting anger or agresion tunnel vision you or leave you open in a fight, with a state of mind somewhat like getting angry during an attack but then calming down mid attack and holding back from using unecesary power, so you are abalncing both in order create a perfect conduit of energy

According to SW3 novelization, Mace using the Vaapad would look like 0:58, his lightsaber striking so fast it looks like several blades. Just like the actual Vaapad, a creature striking its preys with its tentacles so fast it looks like a blur and it is impossible to tell how many it has. Thus why Mace named his lightsaber form after it.

What's really interesting about this variation of form VII is that it's been said that Vaapad's principles and move sets are alien in comparison to Juyo,Vaapad interestingly enough is actually the completed form for form VII,what they both have in common is that they are both incredibly physically demanding,basically like Ataru but on beast mode

More informative and creatively inspiring than other instructions about the form that I've seen or read. Especially the random attack patterns where a strike to the primary zones can feel like they are coming from anywhere. It is surprisingly difficult to attack 'randomly' as we so frequently fall into comfortable patterns which then become easier to defend.

@@xellanchaos5386 Probably not. Vapaad is slightly more laid back than Juyo. It’s users aren’t gonna use dirty tricks with the intent to injure or kill you, rather disarm you. You just have to be open to when they’re trying a hilt grab or a punch to the head etc. and be ready to defend against it. I use Juyo with Soresu as a secondary in case I need to go on the defensive and I can beat Vapaad users using Juyo and a little bit of patience. For example, I got in a saber lock with a Vapaad user and he tried to reach his hand around to the left to grab my hilt but I knew he was trying to do that so I just moved my saber forwards and to the right and gashed him on the arm.

When lightsabers exist (assuming they don't already exist and it's all classified government alien tech) you guys should teach many more and open up jedi temples to train folks. :) They really would be good self defense weapons. Easy to conceal, no need to sharpen or anything, can be used well at night and power settings can be changed on sabers.

It could be designed like a training lightsaber, where it would cause burns but not actually through skin. If lightsabers could be bought, that is probably how it would be done. Even if you were a highly trained athlete, it's pretty risky using something that could cut through steel.

The opening stance is different than what I've seen before. Usually it's described as the non-dominant hand swept in front of you with the saber held sideways over the head. Is that the "real" Vaapad stance?

Well in my opinion one form doesn't fully counteract the other for example form 2 can counteract form 4 but yoda who does form 4 has proven to be able to stand his own ground against dooku who had form 2 it's more really how proficient you are at lightsaber fighting

So, a bit of feedback on the elbow strike, with some followthrough you can turn that into three strikes in quick succession - Elbow, forearm, "ball" of the hand. It's a "basic" Okinawan Shorinryu technique.
