I like the simplicity of the internal design, not over engineered . I guess it's something like 15 watts per channel, decent heatsink. Volume is not important, just nice to listen to :-D

I've got one these and the bottom cover is upside down. The chrome side is supposed to be facing the board. It's for shielding. I also have a AM-U03 with the dual power supplies. I love it too, great little amplifier.

Either way it will shield. Screw grounds it.

I have a similar Akai to this one that has that blown Sanyo Amp. Has a digital tuner on it like that design. It had a power supply problem, and I fixed that, but discovered that amp to be defective. I've been hesitant to fix it because I didn't know if it would be worth it or what kind of sound quality it has. So it just sits in a pile of others I wonder the same about.... LOL Cheers 🍻 -AC

Is there a way to bypass protection mode on a multichannel amplifier? And what does the unit typically look like. I have a kenwood KM-x1 multi channel home theater amplifier gets power but refuses to engage the channels. Block schematic online shows it should have AC/DC protection built in . Just dont know what to look for in the unit

Good vid. You should do a vid on dust cover refinishing. It is my favorite part of finishing a table. Ater the first listen.
@12voltvids2 жыл бұрын
I don't refinish dust cover.

@@12voltvids Snap, crackle, pop... even if you won't refinish the dust cover - you might give this poor LP an IPA Bath as it's the only one insight that YT won't give you an Copyright Strike! ;) Your Videos are great! Thank You, cheers from Germany!

I think for what it is an compared to alot of modern stuff it's not a bad little amplifier. Your not gonna shake the house but I'm sure it sounds desent an can get farly loud. It will definitely last alot longer as long as your nice to the amp module. (Not driving loads I'm guessing 6ohm min)

I have a question about the volume pot not turning the sound all the way off. I have a marantz portable tape recorder where if you turn the volume all the way down you can slightly hear the audio and it gets distorted but normal volume sounds fine. I thought it was a dirty pot like this one but that didn't fix it. Have you ever seen an amplifier circuit with that problem or have any idea what it could be?

I have the matching cassette deck for that set, an Akai HX-1C. Same stupid control for the record level. Needs to find a home. Problem with getting stuff cheap and fixing it is finding a home for it.
@12voltvids2 жыл бұрын
I have the HX-A1 matching cassette.I will go through that one tomorrow. Also did the tuner today. Film at 11. If I can't find a home for it I will git it for valuable parts like the motor and scrap the rest.

Привет с России, забрал с ремонта недавно такой, не могу понять - потянет ли две колонки по 90 Ватт? Radiotehnika s-90
@user-rm7hj8jh6b2 жыл бұрын
Достались от старого хозяина дома, колонки в порядке, проверил с помощью музыкального центра, а вот усилитель был сломан, старый хозяин не мог ни чего пояснить по этому поводу. Мог ли akai сгореть из за того, что подключал мощные колонки?

It seems like the late 70s/early 80s was when all these name brands started going downhill with their materials. Everything from that era up was mostly made of plastic and that flimsy pressed steel. AKAI cassette decks from the early to mid 70s were made pretty good but I was never a fan of those glass ferrite heads either.
