Hey Jamie. I’ve seen you in chat on a number of channels and now found this video whilst looking round a CEX shop, so I bought one 🫣I’ve got house guests for the weekend so it will be a few days before I get to work with it. Great video. Cheers for now. Lee

Hi Lee! Thank you for watching. Is a CEX shop one of those 2nd hand electrical type shops? I love those places! Have a great weekend and shout up if you need any help. :)

Very cool video Jamie. The flexibility with midi mapping and this advanced configuration is one of my favorite things about AUM. I’ve been using 4pockets midi mixer, but haven’t looked at Nurack. Like what you did here with the LPD8 and with drum computer, neat stuff 👍
@JamieMallender3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Scott. I do love the freedom of AUM. I long for a better transport bar - using Multitrack, Digikeys and MidiMixer we’re not far away from an outside the box, fully functioning DAW alternative. My next job is to dive into LK and see what that brings to the table. NuRack is tons of fun - I have a number of videos on it which don’t have many views but I enjoyed making them.

Hey Jamie, appreciate your innovative approach but a little confused by one thing as I use an lpd8 in my iPad setup as well; why use the nu rack at all here? Have you seen in AUM where u can click the little Bluetooth icon which starts shaking, and then you can just turn or tap the pad/knob you like in the program channel you prefer and it’ll map automatically. That’s pretty much how I do it. Also, something you might really like to look into...the Mozaic MIDI plug-in roller from Bram bros will save you the trip from going into the AKAI ware on your mac, as you can pick up patches for it that’ll do almost anything to your midi you want such as change a controller for notes to cc etc. I use it lots a my blueboard midi foot controller from IK. It’s amazing! One last tap since you seem to be heading in a similar direction (im a long time guitar player who always loved pedals and then pro audio, now iPad midi stuff), and Koala sampler into AUM controlled by a Launchpad has been a game changer! * is it the matter of saving the controller settings?
@JamieMallender3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob. My LPD8 is the older one, it’s not Bluetooth so I don’t think I can do it that way. I used NuRack cos I wanted to build a little virtual unit to host samples and thought it would be an interesting gimmick for the video. There are lots of ways I could’ve done it that would’ve been way more efficient of course. I think the only Bram Bos app I don’t have is Mozaic but I’ll look into that. I’ve actually written to AKAI to ask them to make some software for the iPad instead of me having to use the desktop. They haven’t replied as yet. 😂 I’m really into the idea of getting a blue board myself and I just bought Koala the other day. Will have a blast with it now I’ve got this video out.

Thanks, dude. I recently bought an M-Audio Oxygen 61 but haven't yet connected it to my iPad (beyond making sure it works). It's got a bunch of MIDI controls on it, but of course there are few iPad DAWs that allow MIDI CC controls. (And I admit to wanting to work in Cubasis. C'mon, Steinberg!) However maybe it's time to see what I can do in AUM for now. Your video makes me want to be a bit more adventurous, so thanks for the inspiration.
@JamieMallender3 жыл бұрын
Yes I think it’s worth getting stuck into AUM with it. Once you see those parameters being moved by your controller it bites you and soon you’re wondering what else you can make work with the controller. I’m trying to work out how to order coffee with mine now

Can you use this to play backing tracks? Like each pad has its own track?
@JamieMallender15 күн бұрын
Yes if you load up the tracks in AUM to play back on their own track as a file or put them in a host of some kind. As long as the host can be mapped you’re on a winner. ✌️✌️✌️✌️

Could you assign 2 of AKAI LPD8 Controllers at the same time to an ipad? (aum and maybe other software)?
@JamieMallender3 жыл бұрын
Yes. There is no reason why not. You would use the software to make sure each program bank is working on a different midi channel and that’s all you need to do.
