This is phenomenal. I've been skimming through people messing around with the mpc live ii. Hands down the smoothest thing I've been able to find.

Can you do a video on how you reverb and delay the sample chops ?
@bayleycourtland10 ай бұрын
Probably a dumb question, but when you move the record backwards, does that damage the vinyl? I want to get into sampling vinyl, but I am worried to damage some of my favorite records.
@isaacwright35904 ай бұрын
Yes but it’s worth it.
@therealckonmixcloud17334 ай бұрын
Yes but to a lesser extent than if a Stanton stylus/needle/cartridge was used instead of a Concord needle. I found the latter could even scratch your record, if not careful, but produced better quality. If you were having fun scratching & beat juggling all day the Stanton was kinder to my vinyl records. God bless. Have a nice weekend.
@DeeMacias6 сағат бұрын
Yes it gets damaged but records are stronger than people think, and the tiny space you spin back is so tiny that you don't here any noise when normally played. Besides it needs to be played back and forth many many times before the damage becomes audible.

How does the MPC live II compare to an Ipad and Koala?
@jaemez32478 ай бұрын
brilliant spacing of each sample. Are you adding delay and reverb?
@therealckonmixcloud17334 ай бұрын
Sounded more like a simple echo on the samples. Might have a touch of reverb but hard to tell because the recording is capturing the room environment. I prefer a slight touch of reverb on my samples especially if I was sampling "My Love", otherwise it sounds too dry, but not as much as is used in modern hiphop where a Valhalla DSP plug in is often utilised. God bless. Have a nice weekend.

How do you layer the lyrics from the sample into the sample chops
@leogolive2 жыл бұрын
I have that same turntable. I was just listening to some records looking for samples and I found the same album on Spotify that I have on vinyl. I can’t lie, it sounded better when I sampled it from Spotify than from the vinyl. I think I’m done sampling from vinyl unless it’s something that I can’t find on Spotify.

Do you find theres any differents from vinyl rips to actually using a turrntable?
@therealckonmixcloud17334 ай бұрын
This is The Real CK & professional DJ & producer for over 30 years. Yes there will be a difference depending on who has ripped the vinyl. The set up, back in the day, was to have 2 Technics 1210s , a mixer, amp, speakers, keyboard and an AKAI sampler. Mine was the MPC2000XL but I also used ENSONIQs. We all bought vinyl back then, called "diggin' in the crates"
@Paddydacook5 ай бұрын
i wanna start sampling vinyl aswell. do you need a special kind of turntable or needle to scratch the record back or can you do this with anyone?
@therealckonmixcloud17334 ай бұрын
It is better to have a mixer and x2 technics 1210s if you want to properly emulate/reproduce what we used to do back in the 90s up to the mid 00s. Also use a Stanton needle as it delivers more bass from a vinyl record than the concord stylus. Concord produces a more CD quality rip but Stantons were used more for beat production because we also sampled ourselves scratching. God bless and have a nice weekend

What kind of device do you need to record a track from vinyl to MPC? You can't just record it directly, can you?
@seykobeats Жыл бұрын
Yes you can.. you just have to connect the turntable output to the mpc input. 👍🏼
@Nefarion90 Жыл бұрын
@@seykobeats Oh, ok, thanks! It's just that I've read somewhere that you need an external audio interface or a preamp to do that.

Do you feel streaming killed sampling ?
@therealckonmixcloud17334 ай бұрын
No. Streaming killed mix "tape" sales and closed down vinyl record stores. i.e Streaming had an effect on the distribution of the end product and not the creative process. Plenty of music today getting millions of views containing old skool EPMD (for example) samples for which Eric Sermon is most pleased with the royalty ($700,000)

Does anyone know where i can found more beats like this one (just the beat, no lyrics)
@therealckonmixcloud17334 ай бұрын
Try Pete Rock's Instrumentals "Petestrumentals". There are several albums with loads of beats like this. I used to play Pete Rock and/or 9th Wonder instrumentals on vinyl in nightclubs back in the 90s and early 00s. Good luck
