So I’m a complete newbie to all these more contemporary pieces of hardware. I had some kind of early notation workstation back in the early 2000’s and eventually just lost interest because of how difficult it was to get it to do what I wanted it to do. I’ve been nerding out on all these newer workstations and after watching a bunch of videos on what’s out there I’m really thinking the touch is the best bang for your buck. I’ve done a bunch of deep dives on the renaissance, mpc studio, mpc 1, and MPC Touch. And between those options I feel like the touch is the best option, I’d really appreciate it if someone with a little more experience could shed some light on whether they agree with me or if they think one of the other models I listed would be better. Full transparency it’s not like I have zero experience using hardware like all the newer MPC stuff. But the absolute MOST important thing to me is that the hardware unit and the software are intuitive and fairly easy to learn. What do you guys think? Am I right thinking that for what it costs the MPC touch is the way to go? Also if you don’t think it is, why is that and what other work station would you recommend? If what you’d recommend isn’t made by akai that’s completely fine I’ve just been out of the game for a while and trying to make sure with all the newer options the piece of hardware I buy is intuitive and doesn’t feel like I’m fighting it every time I go to use it.

My cousin gave me his MPC live machine. I had the MPC software 2.2 on my computer already but the MPC touch is not displaying the software visually I seen in your video. It’s just displaying the computer software I guess mirroring it

What’s the difference in using master and sequence under the bpm function?
@SpudTooTight4 жыл бұрын
If you have multiple sequences for your song, deselecting the MASTER tab allows you to have different BPM tempos per sequence! If you Select MASTER Tempo then all the sequences will have the same tempo.

Once you get it all done like that is there a way to save the samples that you have on the pads so when you turn the machine on their loadable thanks
@SpudTooTight4 жыл бұрын
First thing you wanna do is Save your samples as a Program first so it can be selectable to choose to load , once that is done , on your MPC, press MENU, then select the Preferences Icon in the top right hand corner of the screen (Gear Icon). Next select PROJECT LOAD/SAVE option , then press the Magnifying Glass ICON one the Auto Load Field and locate your Saved Program with the samples that you wanna load on Start up and choose Select on the Bottom of the MPC!

I try to record samples with my mpc touch from my turntable but I dont get sound from my turntable. I just bought a preamp (wich I need I learnt) but still there is almost no signal. Do you know how to deal with that?
@SpudTooTight4 жыл бұрын
First thing you wanna try is verify if you have any signal coming out of your Preamp. If you don't have another Interface to test it out on, Plug in some speakers to the outputs of your preamp (Make sure the speakers are turned down low enough so you don't Blast them and your ears) If you have sound , then make sure the Inputs on the MPC are set to the correct channel and also turn up the gain.

Hey man was just curious when you make the samples and edit each individual one with the q links to either shorten or make the individual sample longer , say your on the 3rd pad and want to edit the starting time by shortening the third pad sound, does that make the end of the second pad longer ? If that makes sense, thanks brotha I’ve been like studying videos for sampling this is by far the best
@SpudTooTight5 жыл бұрын
I’ve been meaning to write back and I have a resolution for you... If you haven’t figured it out by now but in the sample edit window you will have to deselect LINK SLICES tab, this will give you the option to adjust the start and end points of each pad without affecting the start and end points for the next pad, sorry it took so long to respond back about this.

@@SpudTooTight Hey I just found this video, I was wondering how would I save the sample I made into a mp3 version after im done with choping it threw? Is it possible?
@SpudTooTight5 жыл бұрын
Ajani Pitcairn Are you trying to save it as a Program with all the sample chops to the pads?
@ajanipitcairn20795 жыл бұрын
No after you put all the sample chops into the pad then record what you want, how would I save what I recorded after im done doing what i want with sample that is choped up as i want it as a mp3 or a Wav file. I trying to transfer that choped sample that I recorded as a One Shot to Fl studio
@SpudTooTight5 жыл бұрын
Ajani Pitcairn From the MPC Software you would go to FILE>EXPORT>AUDIO AS MIXDOWN and choose your selections there!

Thanks for the help! Do you know if I can slice the samples in MPC and export them as a individual slices so I can use them in Reason?
@SpudTooTight5 жыл бұрын
soundmal If sample is already set as an audio channel/Track 1 then no but if the sample was chopped up and converted into a Program then you would have to record and and hit all the pads one by one that have the chopped sample and then once tracked them explode the audio files... It’s a lot of work to do but the only workaround that I know of as of right now.

i just recently purchased an MPC live, coming from Push 2 and ableton live. What is the best way to get rid of the clicks and pops with the chops? I get this on some samples more often than others and adjusting the start points seem to help a bit but not all the time.
@SpudTooTight5 жыл бұрын
Well sounds like your doing what I've would have done, but one thing you can try and see is try increasing your buffer size and see if that helps or maybe try using a different Audio driver like ASIO4ALL and see if that helps with the pop's & crackles!
@killyamomz5 жыл бұрын
Spud Too Tight hmm that an option in standalone mode?
@SpudTooTight5 жыл бұрын
killyamomz yes, you can install ASIO4ALL as an alternative Audio Driver and you can select within the MPC software under Preferences>Audio>Device
@killyamomz5 жыл бұрын
Spud Too Tight ill give that a try thank you. Im aiming to use this with no computer unless i need to transfer something into ableton. But so far i've notice the software bugs out when used on the go on battery and not plugged into a wall outlet. I definitely noticed weirdness when not plugged in vs plugged in.
@SpudTooTight5 жыл бұрын
killyamomz I just noticed in your message that your using an MPC LIVE, you wont be able to install the ASIO4ALL if your not using a computer unfortunately, sorry about that, I didn’t catch that earlier.

I can't seem to sample using the sampler... It acts like it has no signal but I can get audio through the Touch. I hear it from the headphone jack. I'm on a PC. Tried ALL options. It does NOT get any signal IN sampler. Anyone know why?
@SpudTooTight5 жыл бұрын
Since you have sound coming out of the headphone port , one thing you can try if you have't already is run a cord out of the Headphone Jack and into the Inputs of the MPC Touch , you will need a 1/8 jack input cord to run out of the headphone jack and a L/R 1/4 cord to run into the MPC TOUCH inputs and pull up a drum pattern and create a test track so you can hear sounds coming out of the MPC and then go to the Sampler Track and see if any sound is coming into the TOUCH..This will let you know if there is an issue with the Input ports on the TOUCH.
