Finally! Thank you! Someone thoroughly explaining the layout instead of demoing features. Hands down, this is the best MPCX beginner tutorial I've found yet.

No need for secrets. mpc head is right, it's all about practice, trial and error. It is great that he is presenting the information, but it really is how you use the information to express your own style.

This is a great video. What's your thoughts on the Mpc software vs Pro tools. I have an old digi 002 and protools 8. Should I get rid of the protools and digi 002 for mixing my beats
@mpchead6 жыл бұрын
That's a tricky one. You really can't compare Pro tools with the Mpc software, the mpc software is still in its early days, Pro tools is leagues ahead. Editing tools on the mpc soft are weak and lack on a lot of tools. The only advantage is that you can open up Vst inside the mpc and not use the built in stuff to edit. At the end of the day, I can mix everything inside the Mpc, but I won't compare it to Pro tools.

I've never been a fan of Mpc's until i found your tuto vids & some other's as well, actually, these Mpc's are killers, i was on Elektron's gears but never fancied the sound of them, i sold my Octatrack for an Mpc which is way more advanced in the sequencing workflow. I've lost my time on Elektron's even though they are fun to use, the Mpc seams more serious gear to me. Great vids of yours dude !! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

So sequences are the same thing as patterns, with the tracks being each part within the sequence (pattern)?
5 жыл бұрын
Ok so when you have different samples chops at different bpm's/tempos are each different sample chops are supposed to played in different sequences?
@mpchead5 жыл бұрын
No you can have them all in one sequence

@@mpchead but what is the samples have different tempos because in an sequence you must play according to the sample tempo?

What sort if Midi controller would you recommend for the MPC Live? Im so disappointed the box has no mixer for the tracks. I am hoping I'll be able to use my Kaossilator Pro+ to have some control with the tracks? And i suppose I'll have to change and develop a style. I'm actually used to the linear stykes and fluctuations of analog gear with lfo modulations comanding loopflow
@mpchead5 жыл бұрын
What do you mean it has no mixer? I don't use a midi controller to mix inside the mpc but if I did want one I'd maybe go for the akai mpd232.
@alyeska42265 жыл бұрын
Mann! Thus box is straight fuggun JUNK! I feel like i got ripped off. It's just an overhyped playback machine that is so incompetent. So my gripes about the mixer extend even further! The sequencing is fuggun worthless. I created multiple seq's in order to evolve my shit... yet this fuggun junk still holds everything in the same static bullshit hastkes with no real editing capabilities.

I don't know what you are referring to, the only mmc I know is in the preferences - sync tab - mmc is for synchronising the mpc with external gear.

Totally random: Are you familiar with a way to erase multiple tracks at once? Also editing multiple tracks at once?
@mpchead5 жыл бұрын
You could use the same program in different tracks, that way once you edit the program it would affect all tracks. Can't delete several tracks with one click.

I don’t understand your explanation of Tracks. Program = collection of stuff to be played. Sequence = pattern of that stuff being played. Song = chain of sequences. Track = ?
@mpchead5 жыл бұрын
track is where you write all the midi notes info for the program associated to that track.
@yewgong12485 жыл бұрын
mpc head Thanks. So a Track is the same thing as a Sequence - just the midi face of it?
@mpchead5 жыл бұрын
The sequence contains all the tracks. Change the sequence and you have a new set of tracks.
