*6 month update: Unfortunately I found that some of the pads consistently will cause an unwanted double and triple trigger stutter effect when you tap or strike them, which was unbearable to the point that I had to stop using this machine altogether. These unwanted double/triple trigger notes would cause midi notes to layer on top of themselves without noticing until playback (hearing one note randomly playing back way louder than the others in a sequence). Then I would have to go back and painstakingly edit out the unwanted layered notes in the piano roll that it caused. I have reviewed many forums and reviews and this seems to be a consistent issue among other users that own this machine.

Crap, well this sucks. I was just thinking this suited my needs perfectly. Do you have any other recommendations?

@@mathieu13 yeah it’s a bummer. My next suggestion would be the mpk249 which is what I use regularly. The pads are nice on it and it has the keys too. I’m hoping Akai will fix the MPD issue at some point though.

Hey! Just unpacked my mpd 226, too) Do u know how to make stop blinking constantly the "tap tempo" button? I saw in other videos where guys were beatmaking with mpd 226, but this button wasn't flashing, it seemed to be switched off...

Hey thanks for your comment. Have a look at your DAW’s MIDI settings and make sure that the MPD is sync’d up to your DAW properly and recognizing the MPD as a controller and that it’s reading the BPM inside your DAW. Once you have those settings right then the blinking light will stop.

Does the MPD 226 work good with current DAW programs ? can the MIDI settings be saved on the MPD 226 itselve ?

Yes it works well with current DAW’s and you can save the MiDI settings.
