This arc is basically one great fight at the start followed by three or four decent fights in the middle and then at the end, one of the best fights in the series keeps getting interrupted by 4 terrible fights and also Naruto and Kakashi running after Deidara for like 10 episodes

Yep. Having Temari there would have been terrific to counter Sassori's poison cloud, plus it gives them long-range attack options rather than Sakura and Chiyo having to resort to CQC combat, which is exactly what Sassori wants

Yeah like Kankuro being the sucessor of both Chyio and Sasori in the war arc feels kinda forced since we didn't got to see him improve and interact much with both before they died, at the very least he should be in this fight, with him learning more puppet tactics from both of them, the three would be similar to Jiraiya, Nagato and Naruto, the old master who dies, the middle one who gets corrupted and turns evil and the new generstion that will continue the legacy correctly
