Let's be honest, if the animation were bad but serious or average, it would be passable, but the fact that on some occasions it looks like Looney Toones takes away a lot of seriousness, even if it were to "demonstrate the characters' emotions." Only after he transforms into the 6-tails, Yamato sees when Naruto becomes more of a kyubi and Minato saving him is the best for me

Yeah, the fight...it truly demonstrates Pain tendo(Yahiko) that didn't feel anything because it just puppet(corpse). And Naruto didn't fight but the Kyubi itself that take control of him

They don't make great animations like this anymore, made by same animator who made Sasuke vs Orochimaru, Hiruzen vs reanimated Hokages, and Naruto vs Sasuke at the fall during part 1. Even this bit 1:16 look like Tom and Jerry.

You're wrong partially. Most of this episode was animated by Shingo Yamashita. He prioritized quantity of the frames over quality so the animation can very fluid. And although the animation is good, the frame quality is pretty low and the art is very questionable at times. "My pain is greater.." part especially. To this day i don't get why he drew it like that.. But those fights you mentioned were animated mainly by the legendary Norio Matsumoto. And he actually worked on this episode, but he did only the Chibaku Tensei part. If you got an eye for that you can actually see the artstyle and the quality difference, which is clearly better. If only he did the whole episode..

@@johnsmith-ck4qt Man Shingo Yamashita really fucked up the way people look at naruto, I remember all the memes and horrible comments about naruto animation just based off this episode. I dont understand how they wanted to air this is beyond me. (but the last part is really good)

Always thought it was a shame that neither Kakashi nor Yamato tried to train Sakura on handling Naruto when he turns into his fox form--granted, what can she do, but it still would've been good to take some kind of precaution since she's his only constant teammate.

It was intented this way, the sudden change in animation was because the animator wanted to show this battle wasn't a battle of Ninja and jutsu anymore but a fight between two monsters. Naruto 6 tails was way too strong to be show against any opponent, so Pain was perfect because it's litteraly a corpse, it couldn't be killed "again". They are both beyond human limits

@@eternaldestiny5232There have been battles between "monsters" or people who go beyond the limits like Guy and Madara or Naruto and Sasuke vs Momoshiki (they are the ones I think about right now) or even Orochimaru and the four tails look much better and above all they are They look serious depending on the moment, here they seem crazy at times and they take away a lot of seriousness as it is such an important fight since encouraging them at high speed or something like the fights I said before would have been better, I feel that anything else is just an excuse to say that they didn't know how to animate this well

@@gabrieko911the only funny parts are Pain getting hit countlessly in the head and after when he bumped his head on the rock. The rest is pretty much serious. The animation actually shows the chaos and despair in Naruto’s head right now. The choice of animation was very much spot on, my guy.

Funny how Nagato with rinnegans had to difficulty against Kyubi, while true rinnegan power can make tailed beastes literal bitches and fusion with Jubi

Because back then, during pain arc, kishimoto didn't fully plan the 4th great ninja war (including the real power of rinnegan). You can later see reanimated nagato being able to hold KCM naruto and killer bee at same time.

@@ciam2219 Right, we can argue that during Pain arc Nagato used already a lot of chakra, was tired, was himself immobilized, maybe his body couldn't take the rinnegan at his full power at this moment because his body and mind are exhausted.... while his edo tensei version have infinite chakra
