In the past, I grew so tired of any artist who steps forward and claims to share some knowledge or wisdom, since it so often turned out to be naive, pseudo-scientific, wannabe-intellectual BS a lot of the time, like "Wake up, people!". I love that Akala actually knows what he's talking about, that he clearly thinks critically, including his own views, that he actually grows, instead of just adopting some simplistic political views that make people feel like the "good guys" or the "committed activists". To many of those people out there just wanna feel like they're on the "right" side, but they cannot deal with the complexity of issues, they cannot put themselves in other people's shoes in order to see problems for what they are and thus actually get a real chance to change things. Akala is one of the smartest speakers around, period.

MrZLeroy92 read the Confessions of an Economic Hitman by John Perkins. Either read it or watch Perkins' interviews on youtube. Will definitely broaden your mind and give you a much greater understanding of how the world is functioning today. Or disfunctioning to be exact.

The perception that Akala has of Stephen Hawking as a born genius, I have of Akala! He is a born Genius!! So much truth and knowledge comes out of Akala's mouth :) and it's so true about the book he mentioned "The Secret" I used to believe that book until I thought logically, and he is correct, there are elements of truth with elements of lies. Big up Akala!

When Akala went onto the subject of international trade already taking place in East Africa, India, Middle East and China etc, I thought 'at last a man who knows what he's talking about' There was trade between Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean too. I also believe that the world is re-adjusting itself I fear that the ex slave owners who have run things for such a short time will simply blow us all to hell rather than give up power.

His passion really comes through. I had no idea until very recently that he made these sorts of talks. It feels like someone is echoing your thoughts, almost ad verbatim (except in a more elucidated and less ignorant fashion). It's been enjoyable listening to him talk, as it always is when you listen to people who are passionate about something but who also display decent morals and a decent level of learnedness about what they're talking about. Sadly, though, you know that one person is unlikely to be able to bring about the sort of wholesale changes which are required to improve things to an acceptable level - the man even said it himself during a talk on this channel. Knowing how to change things for the better is all great and good. Convincing the entire global population to make those changes is an entirely different matter, though.But if he, and others like him, can do it, then amen to that :) But there's this lingering pessimism that it's just not meant to be... Great speakers have appeared at various times throughout recent history, making similar statements and attempting to convince others to make positive change, (Jacques Fresco, Carl Sagan, et al), but yet here we still are. We may no longer be in the same boat, but we're still in the same sea.

Children should be given the freedom and latitude to pursue the trade or career of choice, A career choice is personal and it can be part of life for decades into the future. A bad career choice can do more harm physiologically than anything else. Some people acquire wealth and find out that they can't cope with life.

And he's been around for years and I've only just heard of him for the first time a few weeks ago 😃. I think you should do more videos like this because he is empowering and intellectually inspiring and motivational which are things which can help all of us, to better ourselves and others. It's so important to acknowledge what has happened and the people who have and are still making this discrimination present. Not much of this is explained in schools now and so many people are unaware of the true history of racism. (my self included) However i believe that people need to learn these things, accept what happened and use these times to join as humans, to stop it continuing in the background of everyday life. especially in the west. It is a shame how some humans feel that it is okay. For me i cant even understand the history of pain given to many people based on their race and even the present moment of it still happening. people need to just start respecting each other and loving the things their earth ground provides and start sharing in a fair, peaceful way. we could learn so much from all types of different people and create amazing friendships and a heather world. If only people shared love rather than hate and jealousy. one place cannot have it all, and tbh the west seem to be having it all(they think), however socially and spiritually the west is becoming lost and poor in another level. I know this because i live in the uk and its such a lonely place spiritually, however i hope and have seen people coming together and becoming strong with each other against this bullshit that the greedy hope to keep applying into everyday life. -.- Peace and love !

I agree with every view this guy has BUT I do think that racial matters are a bit to involved on the other hand he is really luck to have a family that is supportive ... I am currently trying to become a sketch artist and my plan is to inspire at least on person within a few years time from now but I refuse to go to college/uni as I want to prove to the world that GCSE grades are applicable in modern day society as I suffer from disslexia and fail every GCSE bar wood work I left school and went to college as my dad recommended bricklaying as life time fall back plan and he didn't even come to my graduation and for that reason I can happily say I will never touch another trowel I did fail art in school but I can sketch due to dedication and practice... moral is like Akala touched on towards the beginning of this interview do what you please but enjoy while you do your thing Akala keep doing your thing! Love listening to akala, but he only uses references from certain time periods, especially with the topic on slavery. Black people, the Egyptian's, from the days of the pharoes. People were enslaved In those times aswell. Greed, control and power, gave rise to Enslavement. In society today, the same mantra is still is being applied. Only now this veil, within our system today, stands exposed? Our emergence from the dreamworld state, has rudely awakened our senses it seems! Now we must stand with haunted minds, It's past gory details and great victories - so twisted in truth, that sits inside the pages of one's mind. Selected narratives explains only biased views, yet all the writings are on the wall. Yes it still rings clear, the sounds of those chains, which gave it the credence of this tactic used today.

With this contradiction rolling around in my head for a couple years now I have been in search of something, anything that would show me he is a human, and I found it! 11:15 he says "Harriet Tubman wasn't a rich man" I am both disheartened and hopeful at the same time. I cannot comprehend what you're saying about China here. The current situation within China is so chaotic, even most of the nationalities don't speak mandarin. The general people of china are heavily uneducated and the Scape is much the same as what you are describing in the west. The power, knowledge and wealth is kept with the very tiny high percentage. Most of the population are in deep poverty living in much worse situations. I've spent time coming in to close contact with Chinese modern culture, the standard of living is dramatically lower than that in the West. And they all have to learn English to survive or 'succeed'.. and any person who wishes to succeed needs a VPN to live outside the boundaries of their government.. The power of china is much lesser than people fantasise about. The thought of the mentality in China becoming dominant is horrible. A far worse situation than western dominance (and I come from a very critical perspective of the western systems, I'm often likely to over emphasise the positives of other ways of living). The mentality can be quite selfish, racist, rude and radical, very hateful towards alternative ways of thinking and creative individual minds. A herd mentality filled with chaos and deep disrespect.. I'm really feeling it's not far from 1984 in that coldness and mind control.
@dominantg

Cassia Chloe You sound incredibly judgmental of the Chinese, which balances on the borderline of insulting. You speak of the Chinese being uneducated, and the thought of the Chinese being dominant as horrible. Wow speechless, yet the facts are China is a blatant super power that is making headway within the global community at speeds comparable to non particularly on the continent of Africa. The Petro Yuan for example and the formation of the BRICS are without a doubt forces to be reckoned with fact. To me you sound culturally and racially biased.
