This channel and videos deserve way more views and love! Absolutely wholesome and beautiful. The magic of the 1980s will truly never die out! Should collab with other KZbinr or internet people who grew up or lived throughout the 1980s. Also should try to meet Steven Spielberg cause even though his movie making skills have waned recently he did his part in helping create the 1980s by bringing movie magic to the big screen. :)

Totally agree!! Heck, kids today have missed most of the excellent music as well. Let's face it, modern artists will never measure up to the music of our youth back in the 80s... now who sounds like an old fogey?! LOL!!

Thanks for watching! We were relocated to Wichita almost 20 years ago, but we definitely miss Texas from time to time. We still have family and friends there which are dear to us, so of course we miss them! And we visit Dallas/Ft. Worth whenever we get a chance... that will always be my "hometown." The shopping, food, and fun vibes are like no place else on earth! Our favorite weekend getaway spot would be the Ft. Worth Stockyards. We recently celebrated Keith's 50th birthday there and had an absolute blast!

My dad has been a DJ since the 70s. Mostly soul music. He does have some that are other categories though because he was hired for many different types of gigs. He still has all of his original records though till this day. Still in original sleeves. I imagine some are rare and valuable.

I would highly recommend using the Discogs app to catalog your records. It’s user friendly and it also shows the value. I’ve had the same problem of “Do I have this?”. So, I use the app on my phone to check.

OMG, Three O CLock High! I've really gotten into Tangerine Dream recently, and that's definitely on my list along With Miracle Mile. I think they had the ability to turn up the heat on a movie without attracting any attention.

Thanks Benjamin, I think you're spot-on with your assessment of Tangerine Dream, which would explain why the soundtrack wasn't memorable to me. Their music simply enhanced and carried the storyline. I'm listening to it now with new ears and realizing the genius behind that!

That closing of the video Culture Club had me cracking up. Reminds me of when my daughter started randomly singing karma chameleon out loud ( loudly)at the grocery store when she was about 4 years old 😂. Great picks. The 80's and the 50's runs deep at our house. PS. I totally would have nabbed up that Crowded House album. Hey now, hey now.

General Public were formed by Dave Wakeling & Ranking Roger when the Beat (or the English Beat as they were known in US) split. They were more mainstream than the ska-oriented Beat. Dave Wakeling is still fronting a version of the Beat, as is Ranking Roger’s son Ranking Junior. Definitely worth checking out if you like ska music and the like 👍

Awesome albums! I am unfamiliar with a couple of the bands (Ultravox and General Public) but the rest I think I know... x I think you're the first person I have ever heard reference Sheena Easton other than myself! I really only know her from the single "Eternity", but I really like that video. x As a child in the 80s, we had very little money. One of the few albums we did buy was Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi (great find for an album). x On some of those albums are songs I have listened to A LOT: "Gloria" by Laura Branigan, "Don't You Want Me" by Human League (80s Cruisers!), "I think We're Alone Now" by Tiffany (listened to an outrageous amount of times), "Mickey" by Toni Basil, and "Betty Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes. x Cyndi Lauper was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, she might make it in! Going to check out the film "3 o'clock High," and the song "Strut" by Sheena Easton.
