The Skill that Most Sound Designers Are Missing

as a student of Akash and having participated in the most recent Step-by-Step Sound Design course (which when it opens again next, you'd be just plain silly to sleep on it!!!) that he mentions ~7min mark, I can say this was easily one of the most memorable experiences I had. It is waaay too easy to fall into the "Okay I need all these sounds because I see all these sounds, and go!" spotting kind of vibe so, personally, I found this storytelling technique/approach to be absolutely PARAMOUNT. Don't just 'spot and drop'. The design will feel very flat and won't allow the audience to fully connect to the world you're inviting them into. *Ask questions* to guide your design and then allow the sounds to answer them. Cannot express how important I found this detail while taking the course and absolutely love everything about it ❤

This is such a great topic, Akash! Amazing video. I started sound designing not because I like the the idea of creating cool sounds (which I...do) but because I just need to tell a story. I am miserable If don't have that in my life. I think that the craft is very important, not gonna say otherwise, but It's just a means to and end.

If someone is going to ask me: "Who is the Best sound-designer in the world?". I'll answer that is Akash Thakkar. Not much because I heard very much of his work espessialy when I didn't even played Hyper Light or other his games but because of his goals. He's making his job (and all this videos on KZbin) with all his heart and soul, and he is inspiring other sound-designers to do so. You are the only person that makes me feel not bad when something is wrong in my sound and music career. When I can't even find a team for my first gamejam you are inspiring me not to give up. You are inspiring to move forward and do what you actually want to do. To reach your goals and understand that something might go wrong and your mistakes makes you stronger. I met with your channel thanks to Russian sound-designer and composer who's making sounds and music for Pathfinder now and the game named Everlasting Summer with incredible soundtrack. I followed him and then I saw recommendation from him to look for some advices from your videos. It was when you had only 5k subscribers. I hope you will grow and never stop too so I will follow you.
