May I ask why the spd is mounted after the circuit breakers? Is it irrelevant when circuit is disconnected from inverter?

It will damage the cb..it should be connected before

That s correct,before. Bad information and christmas music😂😂

The CB protects against Sustained surge that is beyond capacity of SPD

Great video, but if you can add grid to this flow, since we all having grid supply to DP box, and how inverter manage grid when solar input is not available

SPD Should be connected before fuse and CB. Because if Fuse burns out then SPD is of no use.

WARNING: When comming with source (solar panels) from below into the breaker, then the plus+pole must be connected to the side where on top a minus-sympol is printed on the breaker, if it is a polarized breaker!!!

Great video.can you make one more video for my solar dcdb.i have connected two strings in parallel each string has 5 panels and each panel has aroung 575 watt,48vdc and 14.8 amps.the panels i am using are bifacial.each string gives out around 14 amps and if i connect these in parallel it will give out around 28 amps.what rated mcb should i use to connect all these 4 wires i for parallel connection?plz help.thx

Why not surge will first go to inverter instead of spds if we using this design
@filmorecalib68754 ай бұрын
is that alright if the DC MCB was parallel to the DC SPD? In the video was the opposite...

Why are we using fuses and CB both??? Don't they serve the same purpose?
@akelectricdiy Жыл бұрын
Manufacturers recommended that backup fuse is a must to be installed along with the SPD, if possible, a lower rating and for all applications. The purpose of this backup fuse is to isolate a faulty SPD from the line as well as to protect it from heavy short circuit current.

I have exactly the same question.. the circuit breaker seems used for Switch

It seems like every video on this subject has the order and wiring done differently.

Hello I have a question to install Solar panel protection Circuit breaker I have 5 different strings that currently go directly to the PV inputs of the 5 smartsolar victron 90V approximately 8A per string no more I would like to know if it is necessary to put a circuit breaker on the output of the PV just before fixing them on the PV input of the mptt? My PV are in series (3 and maximum current 8A) is a 10A circuit breaker sufficient? Another question at the output of the smartsolar that go to the battery are circuit breakers also necessary? Thank you Laurent PS: are surge protectors after the circuit breakers mandato

Yes, you can install the spd and MCB. This is a safety your system When the surge current passing through the SPD exceeds its maximum capacity (Imax), the SPD can fail due to a breakdown, resulting in a short circuit fault in the circuit. To disconnect this short circuit fault, a circuit breaker or fuse needs to be installed. Each lightning strike causes the ageing of the SPD.strings voltage, decres, and increases the duto temperature effect. When you select MCB for strings, you must b consider safety factor 25 %.

hello thanks for the info, instead of fuses can we put small 10A circuit breakers only on the + polarity? or is it better on both polarities like your drawing? i also have surge protector, but not yet bought the 5 MCBs which model do I need? on your video the bottom of the MCB goes to the inverter in my case the MCB must go to my charge regulators (victron) at the PV input?
