AKG D12 Vs. D12E Shootout

Here's a quick demo comparing a vintage AKG D12 and D12E. There's been some debate over which microphone sounds better so I figured I'd let your ears be the judge! You'll definitely want to use headphones to get the most out of this video.

Good luck finding one of these in good working condition. I love vintage mics like anybody but I'm fine with using modern and reliable mics. Even the widely hated D112. Used properly with the right EQ, it sounds fine.

There's a weird flub sound on the initial attack of the D12E which I don't like. The D12 sounds cleaner/tighter.

D12E has more treble and less low mid content. Sounds better to me than the D12.

The snare is pitched higher on the D12e which throws the whole tone off?

It's not pitched higher.

They are both use microphones and I think the D12e Need to go in and should have a lot more low and a lot more high even without an EQ
