AKG's Best Vintage Dynamic Microphones

Ive been watching alot of your videos and really enjoying them! I feel like most microphones would sound "good" in these scenarious given that the instruments, mic placement and playing are top notch, and looks like beautiful preamps as well. Its cool to get a feel for the "colors" of the mics though, because "good" is subjective at the end of the day :)

All great mics. Love my D224E’s. Those are tied with RE15’s for me as best dynamic microphones. Great pic of the Altec at the end too.

The D25 on this vintage bass is a complete winner ! The D19S sounds very nice too on that acoustic guitar. And you did a great performance as usual. Thank and cheers from Canada.

These old AKG microphones are so good!! I’ve got 2, of the D-190e’s, and I love how they sound on ride cymbals and high hat.

D224E HOLY SHIT YES. Keith Moons Live At Leeds drum kit was mic'd with two of those, and a 67 for the bass drums, and its hi-fi and tasty. That mic has no proximity effect. Amazing.

Would be nice to hear a vintage C451E in the mix - maybe the best sdc ever made. Look for the Philips LBB 9080. Fit it with a NOS ck1 and you’re in business for a fraction of the cost.
