This was a fascinating video. I can see the appeal, especially for adults in their twenties. One thing that struck me was the fact that the food storage units had no locks on them even though each room had its own unit. I can't imagine living in a country where it's taken for granted no one would steal your food.

That seems to be just part of the culture over there. I know there's many people who take naps out in public and like on trains and such, just leaving their bags next to them and such.

I stayed in a share-house when I studied abroad in Tokyo that was fairly similar to this one and it was great. You had your own rooms to allow for some nice privacy if you needed to study, do some work, or just be alone but if you wanted to hang out with some people or play on some game consoles/watch TV, you could always go to the lounge area and usually there was at least a few people there to hang out with, particularly around meal times and on weekends. We weren't allowed to use a hot plate or microwave in our individual rooms but the kitchen, which was also attached to the lounge, was decked out with more than enough appliances like microwaves, rice cookers, and toaster ovens along with multiple sinks and stove-tops. If anyone ever gets the opportunity to stay in a share-house in Japan, I 100% recommend it.

@@UzumakiNarue At least at the share house I was at, yes. We had our own mailboxes for small parcels and then for larger packages, there was an office for the share-house we could visit during the day and pick up packages. I ordered stuff from Amazon JP all the time and never had any problems.
@burai97
@burai97 2 жыл бұрын
@@2111jade Yeah, nobody (that I know of) really ever had any issues with items going missing from those baskets. Normally people would store either non-perishables or their own cookware/utensils if they'd rather not use the shared ones. Even with food that was put in the shared fridge (we had our own mini-fridges too but regardless), as long as we wrote our name clearly on the packaging, nobody else would touch it without your permission.

Even as a shy, introvert this looks soooo cool! I'd love to stay there. I probably wouldn't always cook in the shared kitchen, and have a tiny stove and rice cooker in my room though. The showers outside suck a little too but maybe I'd get used to it? Oh yeah I'd need a fridge in my room too. But I've lived like that before so it's good. Still the shared areas look soooo cool. As a level 100 introvert (schizophrenic) I would probably never use the kitchen or any areas that have people in them except showers and laundry room, so I'd just end up getting a normal apartment, but I can see this being really cool, the apartment size doesn't matter to me so the only problem would be the social aspects, but if I was short on money I wouldn't complain about anything at all, it's quite cozy.

As someone with a lot of anxiety, this looks like a literal nightmare to me. When I used to live with only a couple of roommates, I could never comfortably leave my room to use the kitchen unless I knew they weren't there. I can't imagine trying to time that in a sharehouse. I'd probably just subsist entirely on canned foods I would store in my room.

I don't know about the rules there, but some places I saw around where I live don't allow you to have portable stoves in your (or don't even allow you to eat in the room...). I guess some places don't have many rules, but some others can be strict.

My best friend lived in a share house/ dorm house in Nagasaki some odd years ago and the rooms were real modern, had their own bathroom but a lot less space. Only for one single bed, a desk and a wardrobe. I slept on the floor for two weeks when I came to visit them^^ The kitchen was really big but very old and kinda moldy. Saw some roaches running under the sink and a moldy rice cooker. We went out to eat most of the time. But the vending machine in the hallway was always good for a nice snack! BUT it’s ridiculously expensive, I mean $500-$600 for your room a month. But this is more like an apartment that you have roommates with.

@@a_me_1 I get what you're feeling. I too, have a fear of talking to people, but this place seems like could change that since there's a lot to talk about. I'm saying all of this but in reality i don't know if i could manage that lol

@@phoelinx2750 I feel the same, I think about doing stuff like this, and it seems good, like it could help until I imagine myself actually there, I know I'd give of awkward vibes, I'd be afraid my awkwardness would make others feel awkward too XD.

Many apartments won’t rent to foreigners or will charge you more, but share houses do. An apartment also has the added costs of deposits, gift money, utilities etc

This was absolutely amazing. I want to live there now and eat the entire mini fridge. Or maybe I'm just hungry 🤔. Either way, looks like so much fun and so clean and efficient.

I'm just so curious about how the vending machine fridge keeps people from taking more stuff after they open it. Sensors with an automatic charge or honor system 🤔

Japan, they just trust people. Which would be cool in other countries too 😅

That was definitely interesting it looks like it wouldn't be that bad to live there just as long as everybody kept up with her dishes that right there is a little bit my pet peeve and of course to keep the appliance that people use clean

Omg that is absolute luxury! That is such a good and nice idea! I would absolutely kill for having one of those in California TvT Comparing that to the expensive 500-700 renting rooms in Cali, that is heave TvT The one I was in was like 500 bucks and it was even more WAY tinnier than that And it's not like you could try getting a tiny aparment cause HA Aparments in Cali are like 1,500 - 1,800 and that's the cheapest you can possibly find (Btw this is just the place and part I live in, idk if other places are cheaper than that, though I doubt it)

Was wondering where I heard the song she used at the end cause the lyrics sound familiar then I realized Samurai Champloo. You know you've got a legendary ost when you can still recognize it remixed after all these years.
