This whole press conference was to clean up Matchy's image yet he made it sound like Akina's camp requested his presence. And to not cause an even bigger scandal, she had to "thank" him in front of the media for making her a national embarrassment. Then the bastard completely shuts down any possibility of them getting engaged which probably was not something Akina should go through with anyway but must've been crushed to have to just bear silently at that moment. She remained poised and the bigger person throughout in a way very few could.

I still can't fully watched this video, it hurts seeing her like that. I can't imagine how Akina-san felt. This man is so evil, I hate him. We can't deny that Akina-san is a very strong woman. After all the heartaches and disappointments she experience, she is still here with us and still loves singing. I teared up watching her recent videos from her official KZbin channel. I know she can't read this random comment from her foreign fan but Akina-san we are so glad you are here with us. Getting to discover her music here on KZbin is a blessing for us fans. It's so sad that Akina was ambushed by this conference - she did not know what the topic of it will be. She was basicaly forced to apologize, where this cheating prick sits there and talks about 'supporting her', clearing his own image, and making look her unstable. Plus we know that he was living above his means on Akina's money, who was financing his expensive hobbies. We know he was still doing it even after she attempted suice. He was indebted to her for several tens of millions of yen. It's so sad and upsetting really. Especialy that we are not only talking about the times where mental health was not discussed really, but also Japan in which this topic is especially shunned. Her career never bounced off since then. It's hearbreaking.

I was still in Japan when this happened but I wasn't well informed about what really transpired. How sad for Akina! And the questions she was being bombarded with were awful! I thought the Japanese society/fans still accepted her wholly after her suicide attempt. I wonder how she's doing now. Wasn't Matsuda Seiko crushing on Go Hiromi at one time but nothing came of it? I loved Matsuda Seiko, but it's disappointing that she tried to steal another woman's man.

It's impressive how much mental strenght and composure Akina had to endure all of this, this is humiliating and disgusting. The music industry, Kondo and the people from her familly that explored her destroyed her mental health, it's a miracle that she managed to survive the attempt and she's still alive nowadays (and even more that she continued to do music afther that before she went on full recovery). It's kinda sad that the most talented people tend to suffer so much...

She was graceful and sincere to the end. She did not have to do this, but she did anyway. Maybe to protect Kondo's career? At a most painful juncture of her life, she still came out to protect the person she love. I believe what she said that she wanted to be with the person she felt she was closest too and trusted, even at the point of death. You will only do this when you truly love. She also spoke the truth when she said she was a fool. Foolish maybe to love him. Glad she came back stronger after this incident. My highest respects to her.

I believe she did it to save HER career. The fact that she tried to suicide over a guy and "one of the biggest male 80s J-Pop singers" was looked down upon, plus Seiko Matsuda, her biggest rival was involved due to the rumored affair between Kondo and Matsuda, which caused the issue. She had to do this press conference just to be kept in her company and look "apologetic" for causing trouble to not only herself, but for Kondo, her peers, staff, and her company because Japan saw it as "unprofessional".

Kondo had the industry all surrounding him because not was he popular, he was a GUY. Whereas, women like Akina were replaceable.
