The reason why the shaman died is because she was a fraud. She was doing a ritual for an already dead person, which you cannot do, and because So-Hee's soul was already watching over the whole scene of revenge, So-Hee appeared in the shaman's body and the shaman died due to all the bribes and false practices she did previously, which is the worst curse of all. Dong crying was due to her feeling So-Hee's presence after the shaman died, letting her know that Dong was being watched by So-Hee the whole time. (Also, it was snowing when So-Hee died and snowing when the ritual was happening. Pretty minor detail but important)
