What this captures best is the sinking feeling and horror of the world falling down around you as you stand there isolated. And the isolation part is key because one of the most essential things about the film and manga is they depict a future without the internet. A kind of isolation we have forgotten ever existed in today’s world.

LORN is amazing and does deep, bassy stuff like this. Keygen Church also mixes electronic sounds and organs in an amazing, unique, vibrant way. It's also metal, so a bit different but very good. The guy that makes Keygen Chuch also makes Master Boot Record which is banger after banger. And of course there's the amazing Susumu Hirasawa, his 'Parnesian Circle' got used in RUINER and you can see the Akira influence all over that.
