the original film one was electronic, and guess it was 2 wheel drive too, so the main thing is getting identical wheels and identical drives to run both wheels then the battery packs go in the bottom of the bike to help with balance, was looking into what motors would work and how to apply braking when the friend who was electrically savvy passed away

@@redshark6998 I got ya, check out my project, building the only full size high performance recumbent motorcycle designed from the ground up to take full advantage of the platform and inspired by Kaneda's ride. Building jigs and fixtures for production and will offer kit versions and support multiple power platforms.

I'm pretty sure it was some sort of hybrid. In the movies they mention shifting gears and stalling the engine. And in the manga you can clearly see the gas tank. I agree that it's 2wd though.

I'm pretty sure this is not a working model. Out of all of the real world iterations though, this one looks exactly as it should. I believe it was approved by Otomo himself and brought to a comic event he was at for display. This should be the only model anyone uses to maker it real!

The manga drawn version is slightly more believable for reality. This is made off of the anime version and IMO was made with viewers intentions in mind. Oddly, people can't seem to realize the exhaust puffs, 12,000 rpms, and ceramic double rotor (rotary engine), all relate to combustion engines, and not electric drive motors. I don't feel there was ever a intent to truly translate this home into reality from it's conception originally. Otomo likely never expected it to gain such a following and attention like it has, so it's difficult to translate where functional parts would be. I'd say it's best to look at it as having a layout much like a chopper bike, but with full aero fairings.. so the fuel tank would be located under the center console area. I've dreamt of this bike being a reality ever since I saw it in the early 90s. Biggest issue really is finding tires that actually match the original scale and design. All else is possible with enough money!
