Kuma is an Akita who is 8 years old. She's had a fight with another dog in the past so we had to be cautious with her. How do you think she looks?

When all the other dogs mistake you for a Bear of course they will tease you. And no one likes to be teased.

I got like 5 akitas and my adult male is the.l most behaved . They don't like when other dogs that they don't know crowd them like that . Akitas are very cautious to strangers.

They can be. I’ve had a only a few of them come through my daycare.

This weekend I'm picking up the 3rd akita i've owned over the last 20 years. Love the breed, but know the importance of taking this 4 month old male straight to dog park on day one (and then as often as possible!)

@Danielle I think if you can handle a collie heeler you can handle an akita, although the American akita is alot more dominant, I have an American bulldog who was raised with other dogs, well socialised, but wen he turned 3 he became really dominant, wont tolerate other dogs no matter Male or female. As for caring wot people think at the dog park it's up to you to change their mind and opinion of akitas. If you have 2 same sex dogs of a dominant breed it's best to get one or both neutered.

Danielle I would go with opposite sex! Speaking from experience with Akita’s (& also cats) LOL it just levels the playing field a bit more. Females are going to be more aggressive anyways so if you were looking for a more docile dog, a male will be a little more dopey & subservient. With ours, they had a lot a little dog friends at the dog park, but it’s the neighbor pets you have to really be careful with.... I don’t even wanna go into gory details... Unfortunately it’s their prey drive that I don’t think you could train out of them, so cats, chickens, squirrels, rabbits, etc. When’s the dog spots something like that, all bets are off.

My Akita used to love playing with other dogs but now she is older and doesn't like other dogs anymore. She has grown out of it.
@MKSurvant3 жыл бұрын
@@mulliganstew72 not necessarily. My Mika and one of my cats are buddies. They play together, but they both grew up together which is crucial. She also respects the other two cats who are scared of her. Prey drive does come into play though if a smaller creature runs.... also she loves to chase squirrels... 😆 we have a fenced in yard so it ok. She my third Akita, and they are not first time dogs for sure, as the video says, they can be hard to read.

How well did that work in a Acclimating to playing with other dogs? I’m asking because I’m interest in buying a male Akita and also raise it with a female pitbull pup at the same age.

This dog is absolutely not interested in contact with other dogs. He or she likes to sniff to get the information that he or she needs. That's all. This dog wants to leave this area. He or she needs her individual distance. This dog does not show any sign of interest on interaction with the others Why must a dog like this walk in a group? The using of whips I can't understand. If the service stuff is not able to get space and distance and attentiion without whips (like horsemen) why working with dogs? The guy who leads the Akita (is this really an Akita? Doesn't look like pure bred) is insecure and the dog recognized this. The dog is ignoring him completely. 😉 The correction of the one of two attemps to contact another dog through sniffing I cant follow. Its normal dogs behavior.

BtW it's an American akita long coat. I have one. Long coat is a genetic irregularity not bread poorly. Japanese akita have no dark on the face and are a bit smaller just to name a couple diff.

@MKSurvant3 жыл бұрын
Inu is literally dog... you just asked if Akita dog or American Akita.... there is Japanese and there is American. Both are inu. Answer to your question though, given stance and small size for an 8 yo... Japanese Akita to be sure

@Euge Rindello face is too round and they are too small for a American Akita
@ass85792 жыл бұрын
@@MKSurvant the Japanese ones are called Akita inu or Akita only instead of Japanese akita since they're the original ones while the American breed has a mix of mastiff, tosa inu and gsd And I'm pretty sure that's an American akita, Akita Inus don't have that kind of color
@MKSurvant2 жыл бұрын
@@ass8579 actually no. Neither the Japanese nor the American Akita are original to the Akitas pre wwii. The Japanese Akita are more closely related to Shibas than the original Akitas because that was what there are more of them then original Akitas. The American Akita is more close to original in appearance but not size because of the mastiff and German shepherds which were used to restore the breed since the Japanese very nearly wiped them out during wwii.
