I arrived in the UK in 2002 to pursue my studies. I often buy fish from Mas Bazar in Shadwell and started shopping there again when they moved to Becton. Yesterday, I went shopping in Becton. Mr. Aklu is indeed a gentleman, humble and approachable. He demonstrates impressive business skills, prioritizing both his customers and the community. May Allah grant him good health and prosperity in all his endeavors.

Nostalgia bro. We growing up in our childhood era in the 90's used to identify Shadwell Grocers shop near Cable Street as "Malik Bhair" shop. I remember buying penny sweets and 50p Lucky bags from there and oh yeah the 5p/10p ice pops during the summer holidays. I remember the guy in the podcast who used to work in the shop as Malik bhais brother but never knew his name till now! Alot has changed in Shadwell now. I've moved out in the late 90's. Alot of fond memories growing up in Shadwell!

27:00 My personal opinion in business is this is a saturated market now. You will need a lot of money to open a really big shop to get in a location for Bengali market which isn't catered for already (mission impossible). In any case we need to focus on business that supplies the wider community to bring money from outside the community into the community. Not just buy and sell amongst ourselves.

I think the same as aklu bhai. Our community buys everything that is indian. As a community we have failed to get togather and produce things in Bangladesh that we sell from the restaurant industry. A big failed opportunity. I hope big players can come togather and do something. Also to include the wider bengali community to become shareholders. Togather it's possible.

Watched the interview in full enjoyed it very much. Maybe you should do more chains of supermarkets. We are in Birmingham, West Bromwich and would love for you to open one in our area. We have a lot of Pakistani supermarkets but not decent Bangladeshi ones. We have huge Bangladeshi community here and it is only getting bigger. Good luck for your future adventures with food. Maybe you should do Travel Agency too, provide package holidays around Bangladesh as the young generation want to see Bangladesh but there are no Trusted tour guides and services and next generation will not visit Bangladesh because they don't speak the language or know the places. Also trusting Bangladeshi people over there is difficult, where do you go if things go wrong. Hard work pays every way and you have proved it. Great interview ❤

The attention to detail is amazing and even shows in all the packaging and labels. I don't object to this as it does encourage people to sell them on second hand sites. It does make me feel a certain way about the designers selling these bags. They were selling it for about 10 times what I paid. They are ripping people off. Hermès is the worst at this - I imagine them in the board room laughing at how much people are prepared to pay.

Can we blame them for being the way they are? I am no way in hell defending any deception, it happened to us too, however when I try to flip the situation, imagine I was there and they were here, and I was the one in poverty? What would I do? I have noticed in Desh a survival tool is to learn to bluff to get your way around. If you can’t bluff than you better have money and if you don’t have money or can’t bluff you are nobody. Bluffing is a form of currency in desh, that’s why too many people want to show off.
