It's all so obvious if it is explained like this - but in my own games it's never like this! good video, instructive and - very important to me - with a good sense of humor.and the point for me to learn - never think you already won a game before mate or resign - your opponent can always strike back!

Love the endgame drill, not only useful for that particular endgame but improves tactical thinking and checkmating in general I think

24:10 b6 is winning on the spot. Akobian says 'I can't really push here because I will loose the bishop', but actually he can push b6 and after R×a6 then play b7 and white is winning .

He does not want all the complications after, why be fancy and sacrifice your piece? I can see other players going for it, but why all the complications when you can win the game with simple moves, knowing akobian's slow positional style, he probably did not like it fir the reasons above
@kamranabbasi6757
@kamranabbasi6757 Жыл бұрын
@@kdpsimplified1560 it won't get complicated at all, he would promote and make a queen by giving just a bishop . Blacks position will collapse soon and he will get checkmated easily

min 32. Maybe engines back then misevaluted this position. But the position after 36Qf3 37Qxe5 Kh7 38Qh2. In the videos gets called winning, while engine gives almost equality(and draw) after Qxa3

Don’t undertand why Re7+ followed by Ba4 isn’t an option. Why the necessity to give up the Bishop so easily? Anyone🤷🏻‍♂️..? Love this man and his lessons, sharing his immense experience and knowledge.

I'm a bit confused about the rules of the end game.I heart that when a king is left alone,he still has 18 moves for you to check mate him? ! also,why with a Quinn he could take,and with a king he can't take?
@leventeadamszabo1914
@leventeadamszabo1914 6 жыл бұрын
Moshe Telesh There is no such a rule that you have x moves left with a lonely king. For the second question, you have to take with the queen, otherwise the white king has no squares to go because of the black queen, so the game would end as a draw.

can someone expain why is dark bishop is more valuable then light one?
@klimtkiller
@klimtkiller 8 жыл бұрын
+hakaaannnn where did he say that? he said a knight is less valuable than a bishop in open positions (like in the game) so you dont want to exchange your bishop for the knight in that position.

Any particular reason why not Nxe6 before Bxa6 for white (first game)? I would suppose either Bishop or pawn takes Knight you can go Bxa6 after, otherwise the black Queen is attacked.

I love Akobian, he's a great teacher, but it feels like the class he has is made up of 12-15 year olds, why is he showing level 2000 combinations. The one with queen and rook playing for draw, good luck calculating that.

Patrick Moloney you don't think so? I'm 1050 and I thought it was pretty complicated.
@patrickmoloney672
@patrickmoloney672 8 жыл бұрын
I understand and it was probably hard for you. If you're 1050 I'm not sure if this is the right level lecture for you. That is only my opinion and I think it's great that you are interested in chess to a level where you're watching chess lectures. But what GM Akobian is teaching in the endgame is not advanced, it's intermediate I would say. Plus if you want to improve which I think you do, otherwise you wouldn't be here, I suggest you go to chesstempo.com and do puzzles and endgame puzzles. That's the quickest way to improve at you're level.
