We have played this at 2 and at 4. It works well at both counts, but I quite like how with four players you are actively competing for any colour(s) you choose, and also acquiring and spending stones to get that tile you need becomes more interesting. Re: longevity, I think of this game as a less mean version of Azul - pretty, tactile, quick to teach and to play - so I think it could have enduring popularity as a game that's easy to get to the table.

This looks like a fun one that would be good with newer gamers like Cascadia - low rules overhead, fast setup, quick turns and a relatively short game.

I agree completely with your review - quick, fun, but curious about the longevity of the game. Like you said, when it's such a quick game and so easy to set up, why wouldn't you hold onto it and pull it out every now and again? Also it was great meeting you two in Essen!! Would have loved to have played a game with you, but it's just so difficult to time these things. Hope you had a great trip!

Yeah the variants are just to spice things up a bit but definitely not needed. In fact, this was the first time we played with them.

Also quite a bit like Honshu - though I like the drafting in Honshu better and also how you can slide a just taken card UNDER existing cards is also really cool.

I’ve been wanting to look into this game and I’m so glad y’all covered it. I love the short play time and simple rules since I mostly play with my 7 and 8 year old. And it seems like lots of good math practice for them 😆 thanks for another great playthrough/review!
