Altengrad is a time-progression Cities: Skylines series where I build a Central European city, located until 1989 in the Eastern Bloc, taking inspiration from Germany, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary. The series starts around the year 1920 and slowly advances forward in time, which means the city will naturally evolve all the way to modern times. The city is not a recreation of any one real-life city or country, but it takes inspiration from them.
PC specs are in the channel's About page. No, the game doesn't run like this in real time. Cinematics are recorded slow and made faster in editing.

@@petrhajduk9955That sounds more like the "trendy food and overpriced barbers" place finished in late 2010s, promising a deep post-industrial revitalization, but providing mostly fake brick and gentrification. A 2000s giant mall would be something like Forum Altengradia or Alten City Plaza - trashy English is a must for 00s teenage capitalism.

Not only it is the best CS series ever, but also it's one of the most interesting lesson on Eastern European architecture, history and culture, which as a Pole I really appreciate. So much nostalgia coming from watching your episodes. Simply stunning, that view in the end was chef's kiss. One thing I wanted to ask you for some time - would it be possible for the transition of before/after to be longer? Or perhaps from different perspectives too? I'm particularly enjoying this segment of each episode.

Vilnius mentioned! I was literally pumping my fist when you revealed the TV tower! On another note, I've been actively watching your 1900s altengrad videos and I gotta say - there are so many parallels I see here to how my hometown was developed here and frankly it's so fascinating, i always love tuning in because, while i really dislike those times and what still remains of them today, it's so cool to imagine the dreams architects once had of the cities, how the places we know came to be and what they could have been. I'm ranting now so just wanna say, love your videos and it's always such a festive time to see them on my notifications list

When you mention Žižkov, i was expecting, that you will build TV tower. Only thing, which will surely change in 2000s, is putting babies on that tower :D Also when you are in mid 1980s, maybe you should expand skyline part of the city. Central european cities build some tall skyscrapers in that time. Like City Tower, City Empiria or Panorama Hotel in Prague. In Bratislava it was STV building and 115 tower.

@@dragonlukasmapping805 Now we can see that cities are now very individual. Most high-rises in Bratislava were completed in 2010s. I think there should be general expansion through the years in altengrad since its mix of cities.

I wonder if going around and darkening the average saturation of old building colors in the city would better convey the 80s eastern bloc vibes. I don't know if it would even be a feasible thing to do without a long long time doing a repetitive tasks or if you have a lot of buildings that you can't recolor, but if you could it might be a big jump in making the old city believable

Train Depot (31:30) refurbishment could be also done later on. In Vienna (not really the 49-89 central europe era) in place of the Nordbahnhof and now the Nordwestbahnhof (Frachtenbahnhof) new modern developments are appearing, so that would be an interesting mix. Its really interesting seeing on the Nordwestbahnstrasse on one side old buildings, on the opposite brand new modern buildings.

Been following this series since that castle on the hill in ep.1, amazing stuff. What roads are you using as your "blank" roads generally speaking? There were some avaliable last time I played (2 years ago) but the creator seems to have hidden them on the workshop. Are there any you can recommend if I just want blank slates for all sorts of variations of lanes/parking etc. so I can "paint" them all by myself with IMT?

@HighExplosiveSerenade
@HighExplosiveSerenade 9 ай бұрын
Well... the city has 171.450 in-game population right now. I don't know if Akruas is using realistic population or other population modifying mods, but some people say that population in C:S1 is around 25% of the real life population. With this in mind, Altengrad should have a population of around 600.000/700.000 people. But if we judge the physical size of the city, comparing it so similarly sized and developed cities in real life, I would guess we should be talking of around half a million (500.000) population or so.
