I feel like sigma is different enough that he doesnt overshadow dva, he doesnt have the range of denial and the mobility that allows dva to be where she needs to be to deny ults, its going to become a habit to force sigma and dva to use their cooldown in order to throw a grav in the mix of enemys but nevertheless sigma has much more potential in other areas than trying to jump in front of ults to deny them.

Sigma's succ isn't going to replace defence matrix, no way. Less reach, less duration, it can't be willingly cancelled, and a longer overall recharge time. It exists for Sigma to protect himself when his barrier is down, whereas Defence Matrix is the bulk of D.Va's damage denial.

Yeah, OW needed a new main tank badly, and the next thing we need badly is a new off tank that can compete with Dva. The only times I have to question whether or not I should play Dva is if my DPS cannot seem to kill Reaper, because Reaper doesn't allow me to get up close on anyone if he's camping out with his team.

Eastra3 new tank doesn’t appear to be MT tho, the abilities he has offer peel and midfight dps from what I can tell. (MT equals space creation, displacement, damage mitigation on the frontline, frontline insertion, OT equals peel for backline and MT, midfight dps, mitigation or soft countering of enemies cooldowns, neutral positioning on the frontline and peeling for backline) maybe that’s not what you were saying sigma is tho, maybe you just meant it in general?

@@Calcifer4422 No, you are right, I'm assuming he's a main tank, but you make a great point. He could be an off tank. The way I see it is the main tanks control a lot of what happens with space, off tanks usually don't. WB is arguably a main tank because of his ability to create space. If Sigma can mitgate a lot of dmg, dictate the terms of initiation and counter initiation, while offering some of the traits of off tanks, he can still be a main tank. Until he comes out, I won't know what he really is, but the game needed a new comp style outside of the 3 main templates, Deathball/Dive/Bunker, and I believe that controlling space and time is one way to manipulate spacing to the same degree as a big shield, but that depends on his kit's cool downs and the magnitude of his abilities, which I do not yet know. I'm hoping he enables a 4th template, but you can argue Sym is the 4th template most people have not really exercised, and she's not even a tank, so maybe the idea that a main tank is necessary to create a new play style is close minded, but that's how it has turned out so far. If a support or DPS created a new template, would one of the main tanks fit into it, or would they overpower it. Like Sym goes well with Rein or Orisa, because they move at Sym's pace after using TP. Can we have new methods of space creation dictated by other roles? Usually tanks in many games are those that control space, so I'm interested in seeing that. Sigma could be an off tank that could control space very well. Who knows, maybe Sigma is the perfect off-tank to solidify a Symmetra comp, although those teleport Dva bombs are awesome. Who knows, maybe Dva and Sigma could form a formidable Duo, the same way Dva and WB does in a Dive, even though WB is somewhat of a hybrid between Main and off. Maybe Sigma will be able to be either or depending on composition. I hope he hits live today, so I can stop speculating lol .

The game only has to be balanced at the pro scene. If it is balanced in Ranked, but imbalanced in OWL, that is a problem.

@@spiritofchaos58 Top-down balancing is pretty much the best way to balance most games, since something that's too powerful at the top will likely be too powerful further down, this shouldn't be the case for D.va though and Blizzard are simply going to keep making her more and more frustrating to try to play and then never buff her again. Doing this solely for the .01% of the players of the game however is a huge issue because it's an very very extreme form of top-down balancing, and sadly since the OWL is Blizzard's only focus on the game, they only focus on those players

Good video! I think D.Va is very fine right now. Mobility and utility-wise she's still top off-tank, and 2-2-2 doesn't really make DM less valuable. On the other hand, any 1v1 duel she engages directly depends on skill - even a good Zen can outduel a bad D.Va.

I used to play Dva exclusively and I was really good at it. Then they started nerfing her hardcore. I stopped playing sometime around when she got missiles. It just completely changed how I played and I felt less like a tank and more like a target.

The dm nerf only affects the dva protecting teammates because an enemy can be 20+ meters away but if the projectiles/bullets come straight at her and dm is up the bullets will be eaten.
