The election in 1951 was a contested election in which Nkrumah won. Lets just simply ask the simple question: what if the other side had won the election? Would that have made the contribution of the CPP towards independence mute? The politics of winner takes all is what Ablakwa is espousing. We have come too far in nation building to walk down this path.

So, is Nana Akomea trying to tell us that because Kwame Nkrumah was invited, they (THE UGCC) saw it as not favorable to them because Kwame Nkrumah was going to take their shine from them. Nkrumah might be the greatest transformational leader in ghana,however his significant miscalculation that ended his presidency, was when he decided to exploit resources,meant for providing infrastructures across his newly independent country to spur future economic growth,in his war for total liberation of Africa. Instead of Nkrumah deploying the services of the army of his newly independent country of six million people and more importantly without basic infrastructures such as roads and highways to help spearhead a revolution in new roads and highways construction across ghana,Nkrumah rather deployed them in Congo to fight. Ironically, the soldiers Nkrumah deployed in Congo to fight,upon returning to ghana,sitting idle in the barracks and witnessing the indiscipline and wanton corruption in his government,decided to remove Nkrumah from power. Had Nkrumah had the vision of humility to adopt a peaceful option of negotiations for total liberation of Africa and engaged his soldiers at home to help execute national and patriotic duty of new roads and highways construction across ghana,they would have been so preoccupied by the practical task of building infrastructures in their new country and that there would be no motivation for them to remove Nkrumah from power.
