Dont understand why Akuma didn't shun goku satsu not even once. In my experience you try to trap Akuma in the corner he just grabs you and the screen goes dark--instant death.

Maybe you're not familiar with Alpha 3? There's 3 different modes (ISM) to choose for your super meter. In X-ISM you have moves similar to SSF2 Turbo, A-ISM lets you do regular Alpha-style super moves, and V-ISM is exclusively custom combo mode. There's a little more to it than that, but Akuma only has access to Shun Goku Satsu in X and A modes. If you're extremely skilled, however, V-ISM custom combos allow for some insane juggles and infinites for some characters and is often used at high-level play because it's basically a lot more broken than the other modes. A3 is still fun, imo, at any skill level, but highly skilled players have often practiced to be able to use/abuse the custom combo mechanics to do some crazy stuff.

So no shun goku satsu because it just wasnt available in the mode the player chose. Makes sense, but it must hurt to know if player had chosen either of the other modes he prob wouldn't have lost. Those are the breaks!

@@garuda4361 I've watched a lot of the older tourneys from late 90's to early 2000's, not many people used Sodom in Japan or America except for VER. I agree Sodom is good, but if he was Top Tier you would think more people would play him, like Dhalsim and Akuma.

@@andrepayne4349 Japan always had the lowdown on the secret cheapness and tech way back in the day before anyone else (the Valle CC being an exception) and their tier lists always looked radically different from the US - everyone thought they were nuts putting Evil Ryu in top for A2 until US players discovered his CC blowout glitch at full screen. Sodom has never been a popular character in either country and he's fairly high-execution and difficult to play, so that's probably a big reason why he didn't get many tournament reps. But V-Sodom is solidly Top 3 at very least in A3. Absolutely OP stupid buttons, cheap af tick throw game with a comboable command grab, big CC damage and Jigoku Scrape pressure is pretty safe and hard to beat in the right hands. He's also pretty good vs Akuma and Sim (he stuffs Sim limbs all day)
