Looks like the developers of this game played the Flash game "Exmortis" and decided it would be great to makek it into a rail-shooter. I mean they were not wrong, it's a pity they didn't manage to release their game. Im sure it would manage some cult following back on the early 2000's.

I never heard of this game and already I can see where the charging up the shot would be a big standout but I can't get past the first few minutes of the video just because of how flashy the charged shot by itself is.

That's right. I heard the game was unable to be distributed outside Europe because of its high maintenance cost for its cabinet and possible disturbing/frightening imagery, that's why the latter Gamewax games are toned down.

That's because this game was basically lost to obscurity since 2004 and was made by an obscure London-based company Gamewax, who later went on to make Chase HQ 2, Wacky Races, the Haunted Museum games and Gaia Attack 4 for Taito, Cooper's 9 for Konami and Dream Raiders for Sega.

Possible theory: Akuma's cabinet featured CRT + projector pseudo-holographic system that was pretty costly in terms of maintenance back in the day, or perhaps because of its flashy screen, frightening imagery and satanic themes
