Ala-non taught me to tie a tie. I was 27, 40 years ago. I could listen to this speaker for long periods of time.

I'm an alcoholic, been sober in AA for almost 120 days. my wife and I divoced while trying to rebuild. she now heads Al-Anon meetings as I head meetings in AA. our life is still in turmoil and all my efforts are to rebuild what I destroyed but I'm being met with resistance. my disease gives me fear of losing what means most to me. it seems like I did too much wrong and I'm hanging onto something that just can't be. my fight is my fight and even though I'm sober and everyday is tough, these groups help. I pray that my sobriety and commitment brings my wife back to me.

AA saves people, not relationships. You can and should stay sober regardless of her decisions.

She MAY not, or she might. But at least YOU ARE ALIVE and sober if you get a new family.

My favorite quote from this recording was, "God was standing outside, and I never - ringing the doorbell and I never answered the door and I never invited Him in."

The beginning of love is to let those we love be completely themselves. Otherwise we love only the reflection we see of ourselves in them. No man is an island

We do make our own happiness, but we can find better partners that are SOBER if the alcoholics DO NOT STOP. ONLY about 25 percent STAY stopped.

Very true. The normal reaction is to leave a bad relationship, not to learn how to tolerate it. I divorced my abusive husband, the best decision ever, and we have a 4 year old son. Best for our son too!

Canyoudigityesyoucan It’s how some people cope. It could’ve also made her feel comforted while speaking.

Because they are identifying. And when we laugh at the things we relate to, it takes the power out of it and we relax more, our defenses go down and we feel like we belong. We're not alone with those dark secrets anymore...

I’m sure she was nervous, probably unconscious habit for her. I think I say “like” a lot even though it’s annoying and I shouldn’t, I have social anxiety which makes me talk fast and stumble over my words. Also could be regional?
