LESSON PLANS for This Video:
www.history4humans.com/produc...
The St Valentine's Massacre was the climax of the gang wars caused by prohibition and this episode teaches how Al Capone rose from small scale crime to big time boss in the Roaring Twenties.
This is episode two of History For Humans 1920s unit covers the history of the temperance movement, the 18th amendment, the volstead act, and how it impacted America during the 1920s, especially with the rise of organized crime and Scarface. In this story lecture students are asked to consider the causes and effects of prohibition and why America finally repealed it with the 21st amendment.
For teachers and homeschool parents, I have resources that go with this lesson that include interactive notesheets, a quick quiz, and an extension lesson involving analyzing cartoons and short primary source readings to analyze why some supported and others opposed prohibition before creating a catchy slogan to repeal or protect the 18 amendment.
I do hope you enjoy it.
