Mr Al Jarreau was definitely in a class BY HIMSELF!! Amongst all the who was who superstars of the 1980s, he was definitely a portion owner of that Kingdom!! The man was no joke and was never a one-trick pony in his act. He could SCAT with the best of the legends, vocally beatbox impersonating instruments as well as the rappers. And then can switch it up on you by going monotone or revving up high pitch for a ballad . The sad thing is he literally worke until the day he died. No sooner than he announced to the world that he retired from touring, he left us. He was the soundtrack of my childhood as I used to listen in on a popular jazz station here in LA during the early eighties when my dad used to pick me up from elementary school. Al Jarreau was heavily played on musical rotation on the airwaves❤😢

Well said. I worked in the industry in the 80s and 90s supporting woodwind players, and knew a cat that toured with him. Saw him in 1984, great guy and phenomenal artist. May his music and memory be a blessing. I think of all the male jazz vocalists that emphasize fluency and facility, he and the great Mark Murphy are my favorites. Miss them both.

I’m a bass player for 3 years now and his Roofgarden was my first song I learned to play along. Such a cool song and Mr Abe laboriel was the bass player. Love both of them. ❤️❤️❤️

great band and concert, was on this tour in a concert too.....but I missed the jazz-funky-pop songs with the horns a bit, the 80ies concerts were just the best.

Creo que Ella Fitgerald y Al Jarreau han sido los mejores vocalese de la historia del jazz... Los echo de menos a los dos... Pero sólo morimos físicamente...así que nos queda su voz...❤
