Great stuff Al. Love your phrasing and the min/maj7 lick sounds great. Just wondering why you say you could view the lick as being derived from the melodic minor scale and not the harmonic minor scale. As you are not playing any 6ths it could of course be either. But would you primarily draw licks from the dorian scale (instead of the aeolian scale) when extending? That would make me understand your statement better.
