It takes enormous skill to walk out on stage and make a show out of talking to an audience and getting laughs in return. He,s making it up as he goes along. Very clever
@HrhFish7 жыл бұрын
Its all scripted Michael !! (only joking) There is a technique he uses. He's done thousands of gigs over the years in this character and has gathered a huge amount of material. He's met thousands of people that do the same sort of jobs and the same names. So if a particular job title comes up or name he has a huge archive of jokes that apply. It's still a joy to watch.

He still knows a lot by heart, which is why his take on the Euro Crisis or his explanation as to why Great Brittain defeated every country in the world at least once are one of the best pieces of satire which I've ever heard. What I find even more stunning, however, is that he's able to memorize several names of people in the front row at every gig he does, and that he creates material on the fly according to those people's trade. First of all, it's really funny and second, I myself could never do that, I am not that sharp ;)

The character is a parody, and it's that character he's really taking the piss out of, but he takes the piss out of the audience in character. And that's only warming up. He does a lot of other material but keeps making reference to people in the audience as he does it. The result by the end of the evening is that you really feel involved in his performance and you aren't just watching something passively.
