As much as I love Conan, Letterman's show was really the last place that had the pull to be able to get these huge guest spots. I mean BOTH Pacino and DeNiro at the same time? That's insane.

They were there promoting their (really bad) 2008 movie Righteous Kill. It wasn't about pull, it's literally part of their media tour after they did a movie together.

@@davemustaki134 I think they wanted to make another movie together because people were wondering if they were actually in the same room at the same time for the diner scene in "Heat" - it's all single shots (there is a promotional photo that does show them at the table). Fortunately they did go on to do "The Irishman" together, which was a LOT more memorable than whatever the hell "Righteous Kill" was.

It should be "DeNiro is the Skip Bayless of acting - playing the same character for 40 years, just repeating lines 'cause he can't sell it the first time." Also, for the record, I don't think DeNiro is playing the character Noodles from Once Upon a Time in America (1985) in every movie he's made for the last 40 years. Sometimes he's Jack Byrnes from Meet the Parents (2004).
