I was on a small commuter flight from Evansville IN to Cincinnati OH and being a wrestling geek I chatted briefly with Al. He was the nicest guy ever .. he let other older people and women into the aisle before he left. He was seriously the most centered dude ever. This was during the Head era of his WWF career. I got mad respect for this guy.

The shaking hands thing is really true, you wouldn't be headlining anything if there wasn't other people to make up the card. You also wouldn't be making any money if not for the big draws on the card it's a two way street. One of the few nice things Bret wrote in his book that wasn't about himself or his family was that house shows headlined by Hulk were big payoffs to be on and everyone including himself shook Hulk's hand and thanked him. Hart Foundation got quite a few spots on house shows with Hulk and the payoffs were huge so it helped them a lot.

HBK was good but he didn't have the levelheaded humility of Al Snow. Shawn was a bit of primadonna, kliq-member who only cared about his buddies. Also i remember one was in love with a mannequin head.... Sorry who was more levelheaded? Ok one was able to teach the next generation how to suck ass and be cardboard cut outs. Each has their perk each as something they don't do. HBK was a hell of an entertainer and made everyone laugh for the right reasons. Snow just made people laugh because he always got his ass kicked and as said. Had an unhealthy love twards a fake head. Whether it was a bit or not it's still sad. Think HBK was more the level head. Either way i love em both.
@SteroidsMakeMeStrong6 жыл бұрын
WWE is BETTER than New Japan! - He didn't even care about his friends. Just look at the way he purposely botched the sell of the jackknife powerbomb at Wrestlemania. Characters DO work, just not often. Mark Calloway was not originally the Undertaker character. The feuds in the new generation moved it into gimmick territory perhaps, but at first it was a character. Goldust was DEFINITELY a character, because that’s nothing like Dustin.

It’s still a character. Like Undertaker for instance. Especially the Ministry days, or even when he first came in. How is that just a heightened version of Mark Calaway? It’s a character. Stone Cold, that was a gimmick. American Bad Ass Taker was a gimmick.
@nickm24835 жыл бұрын
That's exactly what I was thinking. Randy Savage and Bret Hart had gimmicks (and were two of the best ever in my opinion), but Undertaker surely has to be classed as a 'character'.
@jpalvarez49725 жыл бұрын
Taker's got skulls and skeletons tattooed all over his body. On "Undertaker's Greatest Rivals", Austin said that Taker very rarely smiles. He appears to be quite a dark dude, closer to the character than one might think.
@TadRaunch5 жыл бұрын
Golddust was a character too-there was no way that was an extension of Dustin's personality. But he committed himself to it and made it work.
@jmorrow8882 жыл бұрын
When Calaway dropped the American Badass gimmick and went back to being the Undertaker was when he put a little more of his personality into the Undertaker. Before that it was fully a character.

@lastatmullen11852 жыл бұрын
Well like Al snow said, there aren't really characters in wrestling, bc for Mark Calloway to be taken seriously in the Undertaker gimmick. He had to become the undertaker, to Mark it was more than a stupid character or gimmick. It was him, and his lively hood. So in a way there wasn't any character work being done. Mark Calloway became the Undertaker Gimmick.
