I dated AL from 1984-1989 and never heard this song. It is beautiful and like all of his songs, the lyrics are are meaningful and so well written.

@Desiree Hello; …Was this during the period where I believe I recall reading that the proverbial wheels were coming off the tracks a bit for Al personally?…

That is so cool, Desiree. Do you have favorite Al songs? Did he ever write one for you? Al is my favorite songwriter in the world! Thanks for sharing.

@@rac7773 He has so many amazing songs that it would be impossible to narrow it down to just 1. The first song I heard of his was Year of the Cat which was in 76, and I was 9 years old. My dad bought the album and he played both sides, so I quickly fell in love with all of the songs on the album, and my dad expanded is Al Stewart buy purchasing Past, Present and future, Modern Times etc., and I loved those albums too, so how do you just pick one? Lol To my knowledge, he never wrote a song about me and he Al is more intellect driven than emotional in his writing and that is true in his own real life as well. Some of his songs that sound like a love song are written about a historical romance- not one of his own personal romances. His song "Lori don't go right now" sounds like it may be about a girl he dated for several years named Lori, right? When asked if he wrote the song for her? He told me that he did not write it with anyone particular in mind, he just needed a two syllable name to make it work, and that name came to mind, so he used it. One thing you may find interesting is when I asked him which his least favorite song is, much to may surprise he told me it was 'Song on the radio' That song was pretty popular when it was released so I did not expect this song to be his least favorite.

@@rac7773 P.S. he is one of the most talented lyricist ever to exist, no doubt about that! That is what set him apart from so many others and it is what drew me in at such a young age and the incredible music too.
